Linux 2.2x in a VM
I am having difficulty getting Linux Mandrake 7.0-2 (Linux kernel 2.2 based) working in a virtual machine with full acceleration.
First I tried Virtualbox. I noticed if you move the mouse during installation, the VM will hang up. I decided to try VMware Player instead.
I successfully installed Linux Mandrake 7, but I cannot get X and KDE to load. I tried to install the VMware tools, but it seems they are not compatible with Linux Kernel 2.2x.
Does anyone know of any virtualization software that has video drivers for Linux Kernel 2.2?

Why would you be using Mandrake 7, do you have a older system? Mandrake changed its name in like 2005 to Mandriva so if your system can handle it I would upgrade to the newer OS. You will not be able to get any newer security patches using such an out dated OS plus you may find that VM will work just fine with the newer kernel.

Mandrake? yikes.
What os is installed on your hardware?
You could try Linux KVM.

Nostalgia
I had a moment of nostalgia, that's all. This was the first distro I used back in '99-00.
I will try KVM-Qemu to see if I get better results.
