I was just wondering if anyone knew if linux supports serial ATA yet, has plans to in the future, or if this is a stupid question because that isn't handled by the os (in which case, shame on me).

It will need to be supported, because there will need to be drivers for the controllers. However, I would imagine these will be reasonably generic, much like the drives for IDE controllers.
Linux supports everything, so I imagine they are already working on it.
