Just throwing out a suggestion, even though this is a pretty old thread:
If you have a file called driveImg.img, and wanted to write to both /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc, you could do:
(dd...

Just realized that I've been a member here for over 16 years now, back when it was Linux Newbies. I still look back fondly on my days moderating around here.
Are folks still around? Or have...

Why does it matter so much what the drives are named? Once you mount them, you shouldn't really be fooling around with them much again, anyways.
It looks like, since you're using mapper, that the...

I dunno... I don't think C# is going to go anywhere any time soon. It's actually a good language with a VERY robust set of classes to do almost anything you need, albeit in a Windows environment.

If the drive is mapped to a Windows XP drive letter on a machine, you should be able to use the Backup utility to do the job...

This looks neat. It at least has an integrated pointer, which I know the Happy Hacker is a lacker on. But, it's basically a laptop keyboard. In the name of...

APR-- is it an actual Dell APR, or is it a USB one?

As to the Matrox card-- are you using the Matrox framebuffer driver? That might make a difference. I had a 16MB G450 that could do simple 3D stuff just fine.

You might want to check out some sites like http://www.anandtech.com/, and http://www.tomshardware.com to get some more detailed information. You can't really compare the chips clock-for-clock,...

Right now, I listen to a lot of Black Metal/Gothic while I've started coding. At night, there's a college radio station that has a Goth/Metal show on during the hours I'm awake after work...

Incidentally, I had the same thing happen with a Yahoo! Address that I was using for a period of time. And the spammer was hitting it hard-- every day, I got over 50 Undeliverable: emails in my...

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
The topic of this particular discussion isn't actually "Linux for Dummies", as in the title of the book series. What we're discussing is how certain User Interface...

I'll even pop my head in on this discussion.
I agree entirely with Linus on this one. I have quit using Gnome, and I avoid it whenever possible. I don't jump in on Gnome vs. KDE flamewars, or...

Debian works just fine on that platform, and it's updated

But then, what do you get to keep your RAM from peeing on your tires?

It's like BRAND spanking new. Expect to wait a while for more feedback. It's probably got similar features and chipsets to the Inspiron 9300, though-- that might be a good place to start from.

I would have to recommend Palm, too, though I am a big fan of the Pocket PC.
From a features standpoint, I feel like the Pocket PC is more usable. You can get it to sync with Linux, but you do...

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread down. I removed the link to the video, too.

Usually, you have to explicitly make a /home partition. That is where user files are stored, but for some reason, FreeBSD doesn't suggest one during the install. This can be rather irritating,...

Who makes the card? What's the actual brand name of the device?
It's coming up as an "Air Fast Taiwan" when I search Google with that ID.
Try this link: ...

is this the memory on the NGAGE itself, or a memory card?
you might need to consider actually re-formatting the card in a Windows machine, or something, and trying again. Just a thought...

Hey, it's cool. Mind posting your code, for future reference?

I have to agree. I've got a barracuda 200.8 drive, and it freaking rocks...

I can say with authority very quickly, most likely. If the people involved have any authority to make decisions regarding OS support, they probably have some kind of power to drop people.
I'm on...

I don't see why a machine with your specs couldn't do it. What is the speed on the RAM? 100mhz? I've never tried it, but I assume that you could do it, if not at a lower speed.
