echo "install what the person who won't beat you for calling him or her at 3 am because dhcp won't work, uses." >> ~/.facts.of.life

debian's installation was not made to be difficult - its one of the most simple and convenient things I've seen. You're going to say MDk, RH, etc. offer nicer looking installs w/ more options, etc....

you wouldnt if you used tab completion

why reinvent the wheel?
but if you so choose, why not look at the phoenix source?

you answered your own question (I don't care if this was taken out of context). :D
I haven't used the pgi tool, but I'm assuming that if it does it differently its too bloated. The *old* (if you...

first response that came to my mind after reading the thread title.

I'm sure we're just missing something.
Try to do the aliases from a terminal:
export alias phoenix="/..../"
try it with different quotes [ ", `, ' ]
I don't know except for that. BTW, does...

so I'm not the only one who had a wierd sense of the russian revolution all over again...maybe we're all just crazy (vs. me only).
-
let me sleep on that one.
as far as mozilla...yeah, the possibility exists but its not a default for phoenix (ie. the resident memory). Once you get phoenix set up, it can probably be changed...

forgot to post this earlier. once you setup phoenix, you can find a lot of hints/tricks/themes/extensions here:
http://texturizer.net/phoenix/index.html

are you sure about that alias? you shouldn't need the "./" since you have an absolute path. mine is:
alias phoenix='/home/lalala/phoenix/phoenix'
I'm also experiencing the long load times....
-
The path is the list of directories which are searched when you issue a command. for example, you can "ls" instead of having to "/bin/ls" because "/bin" is in your path.
to find out your path, issue...
-
once you figure out the alias problem...
cd /home/user/Apps/phoenix
ls
I'm assuming it will show up something similar to my earlier post - ie. phoenix dir and some (1?) phoenix tarball(s)
...
-
umm
that's probably a typo...
"/home/user/...."
^notice the slash before home
:edit:
if that's not it, post your bashrc
-
for one thing, you can make your life easier by making a bash alias. edit your ~/.bashrc:
alias phoenix='/home/user/path/to/phoenix/phoenix'
I have this linked to a key-binding, but you can use...
