have you tried root (hd0,5) since its your first disk it must be hd0 then just work through the partition numbers

did you try specifying the absolute path for the vmlinuz as in /boot/vmlinuz instead of /vmlinuz assuming of course your vmlinuz and initrd files are under the /boot dir structure??

if you're running GRUB cd to /boot/grub
su, then gedit the grub.conf file

tar.gz is gzip compression and tar.bz2 is bzip2 compression, just different compression algorithms, i believe bz2 is the newer of the two though
with tar.gz to decompress is tar zxvf with tar.bz2...

have you tried booting into redhat and then using hardware browser to make sure that your windows installation is even still there??
