You can compile NTFS write support in your kernel, but I wouldn't recommend it.
/whine
BTW: Wine doesn't support NTFS, the linux kernel does. This really isn't just semantics, it's a very...

At least debian still has more than redhat :)

You should get the X 4.2 debs from http://people.debian.org/~branden

You don't. :)
I'd put the drives on the motherboards controller, recompile a new 2.4.19 kernel with support for it (hopefully) and then move your drives to the pci card, and tell your bios to boot...

what's the pdc number on the cards chipset?
pdc202xx or something like that i think.
If it's very new I doubt it will work, I bought a new promise FastTrak133 RAID card and it doesn't work.. yet.

Agreed. Although things may look up come November. We few sane people here in MD may actually be able to get a real governor (Ehrlich) for once in the past... oh, 50 years or so. That is of...

Just remember, Clinton would grab a gun and jump in a foxhole to defend Israel. :D
Hahahahaha
Friend of mine's father works for the NSA. He was at 4th of July at the White House lawn in 1998....

Not to imply that you guys don't fully understand the complexities of international politics or the necessity of some Machiavellian foreign policy.... oh wait, maybe I am. Anywho, if you really want...

I never use tasksel anymore, it just installs too many packages I never use. It reminds me of the way redhat worked. The problem with redhat is it always seemed to install whatever it wanted...

Linux software RAID is very reliable and if you have a decent system won't tax it too much. Hardware RAID support is pretty limited (for ATA that is). I bought a brand new FastTrak133 RAID card...

well, iptables is a binary program that needs to be installed. what you need on your computer related to the kernel are the netfilter modules, look in /lib/modules/2.4.x/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/...

It'll ask if you want to use different drivers if you use kudzu, because kudzu believes for some reason that a person who installs a sound card may not want drivers modprobed for it. On the other...

When it no longer works, it's dead. :D
Generally, I get motor clicking noises when a cd-rom fails me. If a disk is bad it usually just can't be read or mounted. No other way I know of to tell.

Your PC would work great as a router/ftp server/web server/ssh server/ samba server. Go for it.

EVERY mechanical part has a life span. If you take any engineering course this will be ground into your head. Your hard drive will last maybe 60000 hours. Your processor may last for 10 years. ...

as root:
update-alternatives --config x-window-manager
then select whatever you want.
Pretty neat, huh?
you can use this script for anything in /etc/alternatives

Some motherboards are strange and need special options compiled into the kernel (usually ATA drivers). As long as it's a mainstream chipset and manufacturer I doubt you'll need to change anything. ...

Maybe this will help.
Otherwise, I'd buy a newer card (preferably PCI).
