surely backup facilities these days enable to burn onto cd's and with that you can read theam without having to unzip them

i downloaded what i thought would be the correct driver for my machine (amd xp 2400 with an asus fx5200 gfx card)
i got the amd 64 drivers from the nvidia site, both in source, and the kernel one...

what you need to do is to install lilo on /dev/hda (mbr)
as from what i can gather its installed on the linux partition.

its only inefficiant use of space if you give certain paritions too much space and they don't use it
eg
you dont have much installed/running on /home but you give it 10gb

if you have /home in a different partition to everything else you can reinstall, not format /home and as long as you set up the same...
