Weird. Every time I kept configuring it, the config software was stubborn about it being a static IP connection. No such problem when I reconfigured from Windows. I don't know if it's just a...

The other day my router suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. It worked fine for months, and just suddenly cut out. It's a Netgear MR814 v2. I know that it can connect my computers together...

Stupidest thing:
"Though it's a little... mind-boggling... when you see an equation that says 'z = z^2 + c'...." (we were talking about Mandelbrot)

Today I decided to see which booted faster, Windows or Linux, from the bootloaders. The competitors:
Gentoo Linux on a 299Mhz Pentium II processor with 192 MB of SD RAM.

Oh, and once you've got it saved you have to "chmod +x <filename>"... and JohnT is right, you should save it as '.sh'.

erm... the same way you would name any file. 'vi XXX' for vi and 'emacs XXX' for emacs. Perhaps I don't understand your question, but this seems extremely basic....

All for naught...
So I'm back to where I started from, albeit I know that the kernel is looking in the right place.
VFS: Cannot open root device "hda7" or unknown-block(3,7)

Ahhh... thank you. A lot.
btw, I think I have the problem here: I had enabled an experimental option regarding the IDE drivers that said it "should be fine" in most cases. Disabled it,...

Oh... I didn't know that... Why does hda7 become (3,7)? Shouldn't hda7 still be (1,7)? It shouldn't matter, though, now that I think of it-- my old kernel boots fine and its grub entry points to...
