Yeah, fortunately mine's not a rotator cuff so I think the recovery won't be quite as bad. But when I dislocated it in my sleep I decided it was time to do something about it. :)

Yeah, I'm still planning to get back to folding at some point, but a $5000 shoulder surgery in a couple of days has put my finances on hold for the moment, so I'm still limping along on my Q6600 that...

To be fair, it is a pain in the neck that Microsoft won't let you create a true DOS boot disk from Windows. I ran into that way back in the 95 days when I had a virus and the AV software needed to...

I'm still limping along on my dying Q6600, and the fact that my backup drive just died isn't helping my budgeting for a new system. On the plus side, I caught a WD Red drive on sale so hopefully it...

Probably for the best. :)

I wonder if I could use a 3d printer for that... ;)
-
Agreed.
I'm still not able to fold because new computer parts haven't moved far enough up the priority list to get purchased yet, and I don't want to hasten the demise of the current ones by...

Yeah, I figured out once that it costs me around $7 a month to fold on my Q6600. But as long as it's folding I don't feel bad leaving it on 24/7, so I figure it balances out in time not spent...

I lost a non-mirrored hard drive in my main box so I won't be folding for a bit until I can get it replaced. :(
-
Yeah, torrents can blow through a lot of bandwidth. I have one that was over 40:1 share ratio, which probably explains why my ISP doesn't want to give me more upload bandwidth. :)

Honestly I don't see much point in having much faster than ~10 meg internet. Nothing I ever download maxes out my 18 meg that I have now, and even when I was on 5 meg it never felt particularly...

I seem to recall calculating that my main box running Folding costs about $7 / month more than just running idle most of the time. Of course that's just one machine, so I imagine y'all's (welcome to...

I'm still on my now long in the tooth C2Q. Really due for an upgrade, but the house took priority so I don't have the money for it yet.

I probably had a bunch of zeros last week anyway because my UPS flaked out while I was on vacation and shut down a bunch of my PC's with extreme prejudice. :(
Back up and running though. Now I...

*Fires up the BOFH excuse generator*
Yep, it's definitely electromagnetic energy loss. Tricky thing to fix, that. ;)
-
Okay, my last utility bill was back under $100 and it's winter so the heat generated by folding will help keep my gas bill down. :) As such, I just restarted it on my main box so I should start...

My folding has been down due to a move, but I should be able to get it back up and running again shortly. It worked out perfectly that it finished a work unit just before I disconnected my internet...
-
I should be reaching 5000000 pretty soon. Seems like just yesterday that I hit a million. :)
-
It should be running again already. I just downloaded the 6.34 client and it fixed the problem (I was still on 6.29 before). Now I'll have to watch for whether the results actually get uploaded. :)

Crud, apparently my main Gentoo box finally ran into that crash problem people were having on Ubuntu about a year ago. I thought I was folding for most of the past week, but I actually wasn't. :(
-
The scary thing is that 1 meg for $50 a month is about what I had up until very recently.
-
I remember those days, being excited when my download speeds hit 1 kbps. Can't say I miss them. :)
-
I finally got around to replacing my CPU fan so I'm back folding again. I used an old one that I had lying around and it reminded me why I replaced them. My PC is noticeably louder than it was,...

Hmm, afraid I'm not going to be much help with that then. I haven't run into the problem yet on my Gentoo box that runs Folding, so I'm not really sure what else you could try.
