Are you using Apache? Just check the Apache access_log to see what IP's are accessing your web server.
Or... A program called netwatch (comes with Slackware, maybe others) can display in real-time...

Maybe what you saw was something like Virtual PC for Macs. Virtual PC lets you run Windows (or almost any x86 OS) on the host machine.
I'm not sure if Virtual PC was available for Macintosh a few...
