I cant umount it cause it says "device busy"
and tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/hda1 ?
What does ^has_journal do?

simple, the command 'shred' is worthless on ext3 because its a journaling filesystem and doesnt overwrite data.

ok say that I change the fstab........I dont want to reboot so do I umount /deva/hda1 and mount /dev/hda1 or something?
-
how can I do this? people told me to change the fstab and just take off the journaling support? but I want it to be a real ext2 filesystem and not just do a half assed hack........
-
-
No, I dont want this, it simply deletes it, I want to shred everything.
