DO NOT USE DOS FDISK on Linux created partitions. DOS fdisk only partly sees the Linux partitions. You could run into the infamous "Partitions exist, but don't exist" dillema. Use Linux FDISK or the...

Nothings wrong, sometimes the kernel looks for modules that don/t exist, don't ask me why. Just edit or create a modules.conf file in your /etc directory that says:
alias net-pf-9 off...

You need to be more precise as to what you did and then what the problems were. It sounds like you didn't configure the kernel properly. You need to enable all that stuff during config and if you...

Yes, you can use (some) Windows apps under Linux using a Linux program called Wine (Windows emulator) without having Windows installed. Many people will tell you this is the way to go. My opinion is...

Yeah, your not using the mv command properly. Read the man page for mv for proper use.

Pretty broad question, but if you have it built into your kernel or as a module you SHOULD be able to access dos partitions as linux partititons. Otherwise just copy them suckers.

...just to add to the above, you need the RPM or dpkg programs to utilize rpm's or .deps.

Also make sure your lilo.conf is in sync with your new kernel image and System.map.

Did you make sure you compiled into the kernel support for your fs? If you use Ext2 for example you can't compile it as a module.
