Did not mean to be offtopic actually because the only way I know to get a precompiled kernel is using a vendor package. Like you can try www.rpmfind.net to search for rpm kernels.

Music CDs has no File System so you cannot mount/explore them but if you have KDE you can try audiocd:// url in konqueror and it willl show the contents of the CD . Hope that helps.

Thanx to Sun's ignorance we know Jre binaries doesnt work with gcc 3.x because C++ Abi is changed etc.
So I wonder if anyone took some time and compile JRE from source for gcc 3.2.x and can share...

If you have Nvidia you need to get drivers from www.nvidia.com yo get Xv ( X-Video Extension ) work.
If you got any other card use "xvinfo" command if you got Xv running.

I am running 2.5.51 and you can choose OSS or ALSA when compiling your kernel.

For sim-icq you need qt/kde headers and Slackware 8.1 ships with these ( kde 3.0 and QT 3.0.5 if I am not wrong ) . So you just get sim-icq.tar.gz untar it and
./configure && make
su root
make...

If I am not wrong OpenOffice.org uses zip algo. for their documents so you can try unzip foo.sxw then grep it.
