Duh... Just as soon as I'm finished downloading backup Linux ISOs in windows I'd better try the obvious...
BTW the newest Debian stable rc1 is supposed to have the 2.4.x kernel option. Does...

Yeah get about one gig of RAM and setup the whole 1.6gig platter as swap. That should do in a pinch... :D
-
What ever swap you think you might need, you'd better double it :D

I couldn't even get read permission on my ntfs partition unless I was root. So I added 'unmask=002 0 2' at the end of the line after 'ro' and also set the property tabs on the mountpoint...

That explains a lot. Knoppix created all it's mountpoints and then listed them in a directory somewhere. That's why I'm just getting "mountpoint does not exist" in Libranet eventhough I'm using a...

I still don't have a pointer but just that square shape I started out with.
The wheel and first three buttons work.

Go ahead and install gentoo. To save a lot of time use the stage 3. It's lots faster to install since you're not compiling bootstrap and you'd be hard pressed to see a performance hit over a stage...

I've got the rc3 ISO (gotta love fat pipes :D)
But I have a slow PPro200 dual processor rig :(
Unless you have identical processors, mainboard/chips and hardware on both computers, you'd be...

If I get rid of the uid and gid will the drives be easily mounted by any user?
How about the 0 0 <dump> <pass> terms?
TIA,

If you have another empty partion you can carve out a 500Mb partition and make it swap instead. Even with 256Mb RAM, I find that half gig swap is handy when using large WM like KDE & GNOME.

Still broke in KDE3.1

The only way to get windows lemmings to convert is to have lot's of pretty eye candy to start with. Once in Linux they'll learn about all those great applications you spoke of later and seal their...

KDE3.1 & Knoppix work well together even on my six year old PPro200 SMP box. I don't notice any more lag compared to w2kpro. I've played with a few lighter WM but they aren't nearly as easy to use...

How about Knoppix (Debian) live CD Linux?
Just DL & burn the ISO
Reboot
You got Knoppix Linux
Use the hd install option

Maybe KDE3.1 will have fixed the nVidia/SCR bug.
As soon as the next Knoppix ISO gets posted, I'll get to try KDE3.1 out :D
