I hope it is better than the last time I tried to use it from portage. I ended up ditching it and installing it with finstall. I think that name is right. Of course then I ran into another...

That will work to I guess. I recently got DSL and I hope you can get something soon too. Dial-up sucks.
:D :D

You using Linux or windoze for this? If you are on Linux, I used finstall to handle my folding and told it to use the screen program and to ask before sending in work. I did it this way because it...

Has anyone heard from the family and how they are doing?
:) :)
-
Have you checked the folding forums? There is a site that tells what servers are up and running and other stats. I suspect that it just doesn't have any work to give but sometimes they have network...

I get that a lot to. Sometimes it will take a day or so to get it connected. I read somewhere one time that it may be that it doesn't have any work to give so it does this instead. I guess it...

I have a AMD 2500+ and it rarely goes above 100F. Of course, I got a HUGE heat sink on it too. I have seen some that run a lot hotter than that and do fine. Shouldn't be a problem unless that...

It seems to work here too. Weird.

Is this lawsuit still going on?

Heck, I been using Gentoo so long I forgot it had a installer now. I been using Gentoo for about 4 years now I guess. Same install too.
:D :D :D :D :D

Well, I'm not going to tell him to try Gentoo since everyone has him confused with all the other distros. LOL It's the beauty of Linux over windoze, you have choices.
Stick with something easy...

I got a couple I can't send too. I also had one to fail but I can't find the error message. It got like 40% through then died on me. It never did that before.
I hope they get this sorted soon. ...

When I used emerge to install folding a long time ago, it didn't have a team number in it. I had to run the setup to give a team number. That was a while back so maybe it is now. I use finstall to...

Everything is working here too. I sent in a unit the other day and it got a new one to work on as well. Home page seems to work for me as well.
I dunno.
:D :D :D :D :D

You do know that you don't have any team info set up right? You may want to add the team info so that they get credit.
It is usually kept here:
/root/foldingathome/CPU1/client.cfg
I...

Have they ever shown what was "stolen"? I have not heard anything about this in a long time now. It looks like SCO is about dead with this.

je_fro,
Isn't that the same thing that finstall gets for you? I have seen that before somewhere. I never got it to work though.
:D :D :D :D

One reason is the GUI install may not work. I tried to boot it on mine, no workey except for a command line like it used to be. Nothing strange in my rig either.
:D :D :D :D

If you are not overclocking, then you may have something a miss somewhere. I run folding all the time and have never had it affect anything else. Something fishy somewhere.
:D :D :D :D
-
If you have the nice set correctly it should not affect anything else you do. I have mine set to 19 and it lets me do whatever without slowing me down.

The funny thing is, it took me longer to figure out winders than it did Linux. I only had to change one line for Linux to work then restart the network. With winders, I had to reboot and say a...

I went and looked and DHCP was installed. I guess it was a dependancy or something. Anyway, I changed it to DHCP and off it went.
Cheeze that emerge sync went fast. This thing is 5MBs a sec...

Well, I should have known, rebooting windows did the job.
How do I get the Linux box to connect now? I don't !think! I have DHCP installed on there so I need to set something I guess. Remember I...
-
I think I tried this before but it still didn't work. I'll try it again because I'm not sure if I rebooted the puter or not. I think they are all set to DHCP though. I did notice the difference...

OK. I need help here. I have never had broadband before, just a sucky dial-up, and now have cable modem. We have a Motorola cable modem, 192.168.100.1, and a Linksys router, default at...
