orinoco_cs didn't work. I used modprobe to insert the module but when I plugged in my card and ran ifconfig, I got nothing but the loopback device.
-
Wow. I happen to have a version 3. I'll see about grabbing the orinoco_cs driver somewhere and I'll report back.
-
I'm not using the orinoco_cs, i'm using prism2_cs.o as a module from the linux-wlan distribution.

I'm running Slackware 9.1 with the default 2.4.22 kernel on an IBM Thinkpad R30, and I'm having a fairly large problem getting my wireless card (PrismII based linksys WPC11) to work. I installed...

Would you be willing to take the ram off the 166 mobo? I need some ram for a webserver. I would also like the voodoo2, how's $35 + shipping sound for the ram and voodoo2?
Bloody typos... lol

I've got a bunch of 4 meg 72 pin simms. What do you have to trade? I'll trade 4 of them for a 10/100 nic or something.
-
Yeah, I know it's not computer hardware but I despise ebay. Anyway, if you have one of these, send me an email. I prefer trades over cash, and I have a some hardware to trade (including a bunch of...

You'd probably be better off with the p3 600. The reason is that with dual processors, you really only get 1.5x performance (unless you application is specially designed for multithreading). So 2...

Of course, I don't have the knowledge to write it. Any takers?

How 'bout an NHF on Beowulf? While it's really not a newbie topic, I would like something besides the overly complicated howto that doesn't even talk about how to set up a cluster.

i had a similar problem once. try remaking the boot disk from the slackware cd. also, try different floppies (they screw up WAY too easily). i now boot my slack system fine from a single bootdisk.

How much for the ram? I may be interested if you have two 16 meg simms...

My friend at school got me 2 32mb simms for $20 a piece because he's building a new computer. I don't know anyone who has any 64mb simms tho, sorry.
-
Thanks anyway. I found someone to get them to me. You've all been a great help.
-
I'm looking for 2 32mb sticks. I really don't want to pay more than $25 each shipped, but I'll see what I can find. Thanks anyway.
-
Self explanatory. 2 of them would be nice. I do have a 12x toshiba cdrom to trade, I don't know if it works, though. Make me an offer.

The Abit KT7A-Raid board is probably the best one I've ever gotten to play with. Great features, 1AGP/6PCI with 3 DIMM slots. Though it's probably out of your price range at $165. Tyan's good,...

I just went to compusa and got a brand new 8 port 10mbps hub for $10. Unbelieveable deal and it works great. Here's the link and good luck with your networking. You'll probably spend more on cable...

I have run Slackware on several different PCs with no problems to date. I love Slackware because they pretty much put more power into their distro by sacrificing ease of use. The installer is text...

Seeing this thread brings back some memories. I pulled out an old issue of GamePro and started flipping through it, looking at the kooky old games. Here's one that never should have been released...
