I have no problem with SuSE and mp3s, but perhaps that is because I always buy the Professional version? My SuSE plays mp3s fine but I had to download mp3encode -don't recall if I have tried an mp3...

Here's a tip to save a few $$, The SuSE 9 Professional "upgrade" has exactly the same CDs as the full Pro version, just not the manuals -a previous version of SuSE is NOT required.

1. if you are using SuSE 7.0 do yourself a favor and try get a more recent version: 7.2 & 7.3 were okay, 8.0 a bit buggy, 8.1 & 8.2 are just excelent.
