# chkconfig swat on

# service xinetd restart

Try to chown the database dir using this command line:

chown mysql /var/lib/mysq -R

Well locking people into their home dirs using vsftpd aint that hard.

Using VSFTPD do the following:

Change the NO to a YES in this line in the vsftpd conf. file, so it looks like this:

Well you need to make sure that the account you want your NT to authenticate allready exists on your samba server.

You duplicated your accounts? Or do they only exist on your NT 4?

Anyways the wu-ftpd was dropped from the Linux distro's. Instead they now use vsftpd, which i actually suggest that you use!

Maybe you got your reasons for...
