Ah, but Gentoo installs on a MiniMac :D
I think, however, I would spend the money on other stuff.
-
Gentoo at home, Knoppix on the road. (so I guess that would be Gentoo as my main distro, since I don't travel that often anymore)

when will governments come to their senses regarding software patents?

When you use enlightenment as your WM, and everything is e(something). :D

It seems that Yahoo and GAIM are in a perpetual game of "tag" with regards to protocol. Yahoo changes to stay incompatible (or for some other reason), GAIM figures out the new prototcol and updates....

I have Firefox 0.9 on my Win2K laptop, and I have problems often with it crashing. Usually cnn.com is the culprit. Whenever it crashes, I simply start it up again and go to where I was when it...

Sure is, and I just used it to miniaturize the URL for this thread...

Huh? Alt+Tab works on my fluxbox, and I never fiddled with it... Maybe that has something to do with the Gentoo ebuild of it?

When my old 20 gig drive started failing, I bought an 80 gig drive. I had no idea what I could possibly use 80 gigs for, so I only formatted half the drive, and installed Gentoo on my Athlon t-bird....

I dual-boot 64-bit Gentoo and 32-bit Gentoo on an AMD64. :D

Maybe your first problem is the fact that you (and likely other members of your LUG) refer to women as "broads"?
Not only have I seen women at my LUG meetings, but one of them is simply gorgeous!

I have Gentoo as well. I don't see any green in my prompt, though. :-(

I got an AMD64 for my birthday, and I'm trying to install Gentoo on it, but I cannot get the LiveCD to use the onboard network adapter. My motherboard is a Soyo Dragon Ultra . Gentoo 2004.1 detects...

I switched from Mandrake to Gentoo because I was tired of Dependancy Hell.
I love keeping my system stable *and* up-to-date with Gentoo's portage system. It's relatively painless.
Also,...

Well, consider that you do not *need* to do a "emerge -u world"...
"emerge -up world" will show you which packages need to be updated, and you can pick and choose. Do one at a time. Really, how...
-
If you are away 2-3 weeks, an "emerge -u world" could take the better part of a day, or it could take mere minutes. Depends on how many large packages are updated. If both Gnome and KDE upgrade...

Good question. Not sure. I'm in New Baltimore.

The one I bought used for $200 is now on sale new (recertified) for $200.
Amazon has it.

Linux PDA's: see Sharp's Zaurus line. I have an SL-5500, and I love it.
As for e-book software, I use Opie Reader on the Zaurus. It's not beautiful, but it works.

Okay, here's the link for the graphical installer. Never tried it, just heard about it. Use it at your own risk, YMMV, etc.

In a world without the Linux kernel, the Hurd kernel may have actually been developed... And we'd still be using GNU.
-
There's also a graphical installer now... I got a link to it a day or two ago. I'll post it when I get home if nobody beats me to it.

For me it's just /proc/config
vi /proc/config shows me the configuration of my kernel (Gentoo LiveCD)
