    SO_BINDTODEVICE and user privileges

    Hi,

I want to restrict some code to use a specific network interface for all incoming and outgoing packets. The way to do this seems to be do a setsockopt() with SO_BINDTODEVICE set appropriately....

Hrm, I hadn't actually thought of that. So I isolated the TV and ran it alone, nothing else nearby affecting it, and ran the laptop from battery power. I got the same results. :(

    I can't figure...

Possibly. But, for one, I've not yet found anything hinting at how I'd modify that. For two, it doesn't quite explain how the signal looks okay to begin with, then quickly switches to the "fuzzier"...

Near perfect TV out w. Nvidia drivers

    Hi,

Yesterday I decided I wanted to watch DVDs on the TV in my flat. The TV is nothing fancy, an old widescreen CRT, but it has an SVIDEO input. My laptop, a Vaio VGN-FE11H has an SVIDEO out, and...

    ZyXEL Prestige 600 Series

    Hi,

I've just moved into an apartment with an existing ADSL line. There's a ZyXEL Prestige 600 Series 4 port hub, wifi, and DSL modem connecting me to the ISP.

However, the wifi is not enabled....

Ok. So, as you point out, those aren't directly applicable. Obviously there's no kernel or initrd to point grub to with a Windows iso.

Right. I was assuming that by dd'ing the CD to disk, it'd carry with it the boot sector on the CD, which I'd be able to use chainloader +1 on.

So, how are you booting that iso? Info appreciated....
  13. Booting Windows install CD from HD partition...?

    Hi,

I'm putting this in Off Topic, because it doesn't really fit elsewhere.

Is it possible to install Windows XP without the CD? Network installs etc are probably out of the question due to...

There's a good bit of useful information in that thread now. Probably the best fix, aside from using the KDE equivalent, is to pull the Gnome version from sid.

    Best of luck,

I wasn't familiar with nvidia-settings until just now, but no, it doesn't do this. I can use it to affect the settings for currently connected monitors, but I can't ask it to probe for new monitors.

    Dynamic reconfiguration of X?

    DVB-T USB stick

    Hi,

I've gotten my hands on a pretty cheap DVB-T USB stick. Ideally, I'd like it to work under linux, but the stick doesn't seem to be directly supported. Googling doesn't turn up much.
