Oh I remember this thread. I've tried a couple of desktops lately, namely Unity and KDE. Didn't like either one, so I installed Mint with MATE, which is their bastard version of Gnome 2. I'm happy in...

I think it's very poor manners to hang on someone's linksys net like that. Maybe you should apologize to him. Check.

Actually I have family members who have been diagnosed (by a real doctor, mind you) with Asperger's and I joke about it all the time. It's just a neurological abnormality and basically the same as...

Epic flamewar guys. I'm gonna start making the t-shirts now. Neither of you are wasting your time and you're both making very crucial points in the arguments. Keep it up!

You were joining/parting the channel every couple of minutes and that's why you got banned temporarily. I did send you a message both on the channel and in private before you were banned. You would...

Did someone mention beer?

I want a jerker too, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get one transported from the nearest Ikea to my flat. I suppose I'd have to rent a van.

Might be but I don't know where.

Use:
mplayer --nocache --playlist foo.pls
for instant results. That's what I use anyways. I don't like making simple things complex by adding a GUI.
EDIT:
Actually what I just said there...

The solution to this problem lies in a file called .Xmodmap. Running
$ man xmodmap
gave me this clip:
So in case you don't have one, make a file called .Xmodmap in your home dir and add...

There is a folder under your home dir called .kde ( . for hidden) there's a dir called autostart where you can put all the things you want ran when you log in KDE.
However, note that this will...

One of the offices had a blown up fiber/copper converter yesterday and they couldn't get the replacement unit working. So I drove 6 hours just to tell the local techie to use the crossover switch on...

The only thing keeping Linux out of the market is that is does not have the marketing department or the budget Microsoft has. That is what they are good at; taking over markets with inferior products...

I think allowing people to make money with the free code is an essential part of the success of Linux in the first place. From the start Linus made it clear that you can package and sell the code....
