I used to be a Dalnet regular, #linux, #god, #elite, #unf, #trance, the list just goes on and on.. I love mIRC, first chat client I used when I was like eleven..

The weird thing about Freenode is that no one hardly ever seems to talk in those channel. Sometimes a hundred and fifty people will be sitting silenty in a chat... spooky!
My favorite small, intimate linux chatroom on freenode is linuxbeginner, although I sometimes feel like I'm the only beginner in there. They have a really excellent website by the way, honestly the best portal for accessing infromation about linux that I've ever seen, including Linux.org. The graphics are kind of ugly, but the more time I spend there, the more impressed I am at just how useful it is. Comprehensive and well organized, and belongs in every newbie's list of bookmarks.

Currently running debian on an UltrasparcIIi (2.4.18), gentoo on an amd 1500xp (2.6.7) fedora core 2 on a pent4 (2.6.5), osx on a g4 ibook. and finally Irix 6.5.22 on a SGI O2 270mhz mips machine.

I've heard stories about things like censorship, but is there technically anything wrong with it? I mean, I used to be on freenode quite a bit, and I maybe only went through 1 or 2 netsplits.
So long as the channel stays remotely related to the topic of tech, it seems to me like Freenode's an okay place...
