Yes, el_cu_guy, I did simplifiy it when it came to the lawyer thing. Can't squeeze too much text in there :P. Oops, I did screw up with IRIX. I don't know what I was thinking. I meant AIX.

    All in all . . .

    fsck /dev/you

. . . if you get my drift.

Maybe they will sue themselves, out of business. That would be OK by me. Put a whole new meaning to 'shooting thyself in the foot'.

There's an article on the Register as well... Looks like they've really gone and shot themselves in the foot this time!

There's a good one on Computerworld (link from The Reg's article) with a lovely ending. I won't spoil it...

Of course, I predicted this yesterday...

There stock has reached a pretty deep low, time for them to say something silly again to get it back up.

I wonder what's next? Suing the U.S. Government?

    If the SCO won

Since the American courts are totally unpredictable and basically out to lunch than there is a possibility that the SCO would win the case. Would you continue to use Linux and pay your fee? Would the open source community do all their work for the SCO to reap all the profits for doing nothing?

SCO wont win, there stupid to think that they will.

Can you see all of the major companies like AOL etc who Use Linux on there servers pay up?
I think not and the average joe wont pay it either I know I wont, I'll gladly pay Mandrake for the Use of there Distro (like I already do, as I only buy the boxed set's)

SCO are going down and trying to drag other companies with them!

If they ever would have the guts to show us the code they mean is stolen, we could always just exclude that, and continue using linux for free, eh ?

It just doesn't make any sense that developers would continue to develop for Linux if it was owned by the SCO. Because the SCO is a company that does nothing except file lawsuits. Why would open source developers fill the SCO's pockets, what is the motivation? To pay criminals to do nothing?

But then they'd go after all the big companies for a percentage of what they've made using a tainted 2.4 kernel...

What about Slackware though? That uses BSD style init. Is it immune from this SCO case?

I know it has a rudimentary capability to load SysVInit scripts, but is it a sufficiently different form to exclude it from this stupidity?
