Microcontroller linux
Anyone here has any experience with linux on microcontrollers?
Had had a look at www.uclinux.org and it looks really interesting, but the site seems kind of dead.

What do you mean on microcontrollers? Are you specifically looking to embed it into a piece of hardware, or are you just looking for an ultra-lightweight Linux OS? I guess it depends on what you plan on using it for. There are plenty of hardware gadgets out there running some sort of embedded Linux operating system, but that typically runs on ARM processors to my knowledge. You can get a little more info here:

im looking for some sort of embedded linux, using it for automation, control simple robots and such.
Basically to build a small, general purpose and low power consumption computer like the ucSimm on the uclinux page.

basic stamp
I have used the basic stamp which works well for controllers and even data collection using its language, they even have one that is good with a form of java. I had also come across a much cheaper controller in the past but can not remember the name at this point. I think it is on the wiki page though.

I had played around with the Basic Stamp as well, its easy to use and works well on the simple robots i had played with.
Im hoping to create something a bit more than that, much like the ucSimm project in my previous post, with a ethernet controller and a display driver, that would be nice.
More info from our good friend google:
