hi everyone, i am back from my system crash type thing. i ended up reinstallling with RH9.0 and lets just say, it was not easy. the install wouldnt complete & said there was a bug so it took a long time, i ended up having to format, losing all my crap...
this is what happens during the configure:
checking whether to use use tgetent or setupterm... setupterm
checking for setupterm in -lncurses... no
checking for setupterm in -lcurses... no
checking for tgetent in -ltinfo... no
checking for tgetent in -lmytinfo... no
checking for setupterm in -ltinfo... no
configure: WARNING: cannot find setupterm - trying tgetent
checking for tgetent in -ltermlib... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermcap... no
checking for tgetent in -lcurses... no
configure: error: cannot find setupterm or tgetent
i checed to see if i have termcap & libtermcap and both are installed.

Check to see if you have ncurses-devel installed.

Heh - np.
FYI I just did a search on Google for setupterm linux rh9 and the single result was that package.
Some of the distros apparently don't put setupterm and tgenent into the libtermcap package - SuSE is the same, at least.
