Installation Problem: Checking for gcc ..... no

    Hi,

I am a newbie in Linux. Please help.

I use RedHat 9.0. I tried to install Nessus but I have the following problem during the compilation:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    [root@pclinux download]# cd nessus-libraries
    [root@pclinux nessus-libraries]# ./configure
    creating cache ./config.cache
    checking for gcc... no
    checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried to rpm the following packages again:
    compat-gcc-7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpm
    compat-gcc-c++-7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpm
    libgcc-3.2.2-5.i386.rpm

However it indicated that all packages have already installed.

    Please help.

    Thanks and best regards

    Problem Solved

    Hi,

I searched once again for this topic in this forum. I finally got the answer from a post. The solution is install ALL Development Tools:

    To install the compilers, etc.
Click on the redhat in the bottom left corner.
    Click 'System Settings'
    Click 'Add/Remove Applications'
    Enter Root password.
    Scroll down to "Developement"
    Install all Developement packages.

    Best regards
