Good board for 2500 XP
My A7N8X-E Deluxe is dying and I need a replacement.
The NF7 ver 2 has been suggested but I can't find any.
Any other suggestions?
Not looking to overclock, just want some good linux compatiblity, decent onboard sound and support for my corsair extreme 3200.
Thanks in advance.

What? That's a new board! How can it be dying so quickly?
As for mobo recommendations, I'll say Tyan every time.

I got a Rock Solid stable Abit NF7-s.
Another option is the DFI lan party series. forgot the model name though.

Haven't buried it yet. Have to try a bios update. As soon as my P4/Slackware is surfing with Direcway I'll have a go at it. That's a whole 'nother post, though.
Lucas, did you have any issues with correct cpu being recognized?

yes and no, the board will post and tell you it has a invalid CPU or something similar. Then once it posts for the second time it recognises it fine.

Hmmm. Strange, but workable.
Thank you for the info.

It is not a problem at all, it just a bit weird.

Mine did that too. All it's really saying is that it detected that you made changes to the CPU (or just installed one) and wants you to confirm in the BIOS that it guessed right on the settings. I discovered this the hard way when I replaced my heatsink and then tried to boot headless. It stopped at this BIOS message and I had no idea why I couldn't SSH in.
And because I also now have experience with DFI, I would recommend you stay away from them unless you really want to tweak. There can be a lot of work involved in getting a system stable on one of those boards. They're fine once you get them set up, but I had to spend hours looking up what all of those memory settings did. An NF2 board might not be quite the same as my NF4, but since that's DFI's reputation I'd guess it is.
