One widescreen monitor, split to act as two regular monitors.... possible?
Hello again
Just wondering if its possble to take one widescreen monitor and set it up so that when you maximize programs on it they will act as though the screen is split, ala xinerma. Its really a convenience issue, I would even be satisfied if there a was some way to set a defalut window width in the window manager or xwindows (something more savy than -geometry)
thanks

I don't know which WM you use. I like KDE. In version 3.5, maybe earlier but I just noticed it this one, there are some interesting settings in the Control Center. Look under Desktop/Window Behavior/Titlebar Actions. You can set which direction a window is maximized (horiz., vert., or both) based on which mouse button you click with. Mine defaults to maximizing vertically with a middle-button click.

Fluxbox has a remember dimensions option that would let you size a window the way you like it and have it come up that way every time too.

how do you do that in Flux?
