gui for installing rpms from source

I'm fairly terminal phobic
running a fork of mandriva
http://www.mageia.org/en/
with a KDE desktop
as an example
I was looking at a partition manager similar to gparted
http://sourceforge.net/projects/partitionman/
ark will extract the tarball

but then it seems I'm stuck using code to install through a terminal
this seems like a gaping hole. compared to gnome
could be I'm just not asking the question the right way
certainly the greybeards on the kde or mageia forum would consider the use of a terminal a minimum requirement, for many activities, not realizing there maybe other options
