Just for anyone wondering, those are from the super neato webcam at The Henry Doorly Zoo. Link here:

If you search in dev/random you can probably find some ranting from me about how great the zoo in Omaha is from the first time this was posted. Really, if it is every nice weather and you are in Omaha, check out the old market and the Zoo.

Always loved penguins, since I was a kid...maybe that's what drew me to Linux

Been there many times, Gantrep! Even got pictures. What part of Omaha are you from? Used to live just south of the Douglas Co. line near 36th and Harrison (it's all Bellevue now, I think...).

Are Peony Park and the "Gardens" still around? Ahh, to trip through Fontenelle...

    Man, I miss Nebraska.

He's probably grooming his back. They do that sometimes, apparently.

I've got a penguin puzzle here, but didn't have the "what it looks like when it's all put together" picture, so while I was putting it together, I had a lot of that kind of thing ("how on earth can this penguin have no head?"). As it turned out, its neck was bent so far over to the left that it looked like its head had just been removed with the Gimp or something, except that it hadn't been.

That's probably what's going on here as well. It's probably just got its head down around its wing's "elbow" level, on its right side.

Banzaikai, I'm from what is almost west Omaha; Elkhorn. Yes it has sprawled that far out. It's disturbing.

And sorry to tell you this, but Peony Park is gone. It closed in the mid-90's sometime. I can't remember when exactly. There is a dumb grocery store there now. The Indian Hills theatre is gone also. Replaced with a damned parking lot that is hardly even used.

Didn't mean to write such a downer everyone. Omaha really is a great place to live and visit!

Penguins are smart...they have to look good at ALL times for the ladies. Even the little ones look nice. I use the 18 zoom and best quality so i can see whats REALLY going on. I had one where a baby penguin(penguinlet??) leaping towards the water in mid air but for some reason it didnt crop. It was really a superman shot...w/ a blur and everything.

    I love penguins!
I noticed a black lump/tube in the right corner...anyone else see that? Looks like an upside down penguin but no feet, head wings/flaps nothing. Check it out!

I got another good one...hold on
