    BlueStoneParent? HUH?

has anyone had any experience with "BlueStoneParent' video cards?
i've had trouble loading both yellowdog and mandrake on my G4,...
could this card have anything to do with it?

    thanks.

Where are you getting the info that this is a 'bluestone' card? open your case, look at the video card. If it is the stock video card that came with your G4, there are only 2 options... ATI or Nvidia... how old is your G4? If it's over a year old, it's most likely an ATI card. That is the card that i have in both my G4's. YellowDog installed just fine with it....if you have access to OS9, boot it and run the system profiler, go into devices and look at the PCI bus. There it will display the vendor, the firmware rev as well as the model of video card. Post back here what you find and we will try to help you further!

my G4 is at work,...i'm at home now on my pc,...but, i can
tell you what i know,...i did crack open the case and look at it,...
and it's ATI,...i do have OS9 and i did run the profiler as well,...
and where normally i would assume the 'make' would be
listed,... (for instance, where 'rage128' shows up when i run
the profiler for my G3) that's where BlueStoneParent shows
up and my G4 is about a half year old now,...as far as the
other things you ask, i'll get back to you first thing monday
    morning,...
    appreciate the help gixer.

this is what comes up on my profiler with regards to my card:

    Card Type: ATY,DDParent
    Card Name: ATY,BlueStoneParent
    Card Model: ATY,RV20
    Card ROM#: 113-91701-222
    Card Revision: 0
    Card Vender ID: 1002
    VRAM Size: 32 MB

and like i said before, i have opened up my computer, and it does have
ATI on the card itself but no reference whatsoever to Radeon as does my
    Rage128,...
don't stress yourself out over trying to come up with a solution to
this,...but, i appreciate any advice on how to proceed,...

    thanks.
