Oh, I am not a geek, Im a nerd, theres a difference. Geeks know alot about things that noone cares about, and that aren't important. Nerds know alot about things that no one cares about, but are important. Whether they be computer nerds, biology nerds, history nerds, or automotive nerds(hehe). And about the female thing, most people don't expect to get lucky over a forum. Especially not with someone who said that they are in a relationship with some one else.

My only problem is that windows doesn't deliver. I get fatal errors that don't kill any one, and illegal operations that don't get any one arrested. I mean, am I supposed to use an OS whos errors are problematic?

    Talking Linuxy cat names

How about "root" (boy cat) or "sys" (girl cat)

    or some others:
redcat (if the color is right)
    gnucat (newcat)
    Gentoo (sounds kinda catty)
DO NOT use SCO (no need to be sued by a cat)
    linus (for a smart cat)
tux (hmmm, I like that one)

    This is fun

    another ...google

Cats tend to name themselves. Keep all of these names in mind and then decide after you get the cat. Some name will fall into place.

My first 2 cats were 95 ad 96, the last two digits on their tags. After a while 96 became Big Guy and, unfortunately, 95 was killed by a dog before he let me in on his name (that's him in my avatar doohickie over there on the left.).

My 2 current cats are Lucky and Scaredy Cat. Other cats I've had, based on their dispositions, were Zoomer, Stormy, and Momma Cat.

I like the tarball idea also, but your new cat will let you know soon enough.

    regards...

    BIOS?
If he's got big ears, you can call 'im floppy.
    Caldera?
    Mandrake?
If you're into PPC's, call 'im Yellowcat.
I don't claim to be an expert, please remember that the above is just my rambling, probably long-winded opinion.

    Me likes tarball aswell.

This is nearlly as bad as somebody else on a different forum who names there children after characters from an old computer game (Space Quest, see the link in my signature labelled "Roger Wilco's Virtual Broomcloset" for THE fan site about the series. If you have played space quest and enjoyed it join the forum... could do with some more people to argue about how good linux is )

i think that Linus, is a cool name for a cat

    why not Cat ??
Contrary to popular belief, Unix is user friendly. It just happens to be very selective about who it decides to make friends with.

    My cats names:

Nate Cooper -(fixed) male, skiddish, short-hair, black; comes only to eat - named after an LAPD Officer

Tony Gonzales -(fixed) male, sweet, friendly, long-hair, black; lap cat - also named after an LAPD Officer

Morris -(feral male) orange tabby, fighter, that my youngest daughter somehow made friends with and now it won't leave, his face is full of scars and fresh fighting claw wounds, loves to pi$$ on doors

Buttons -(fixed) tortise-shell female, long-hair, SHE RULES THE YARD -even bosses Morris around -kittens with Morris before fixing

Lolo - male (soon to be fixed), orange tabby (son of Morris) handled since birth -sweet as can be -mighty hunter of grasshoppers and sparrows

Pepper - (fixed) long-hair gray and white, captured as 8-week old feral kitten; very stupid as cats go but equally sweet, neurotic -can't stand to be outside, knocks on door/screen and cries constantly with loud pathetic meeeeaouw! to come in, loves to be held and sleep with people but pees on bedding, does not always land on feet if tossed, will tolerate being spun in bowl until sick -=please, somebody adopt this cat from me!

I still think Solaris is a good name for a cat.
