RE: kernel alterations
Can CONFIG_INTEL_TXT be safely deleted, without the OS becoming unstable? Note I'm already aware of the 'disable' route, and have no interest in that. I require it to be totally erased from the kernel.
If this is possible, please advise how to do it!

Can you tell us the reason why you want to delete it?
Couldn't find it in Ubuntu so it must be dispensable.

Research indicates Intel TXT, vPro, etc., is just a renamed version of Microsoft Palladium....did not want it way back when, and my opinion has not changed. I need to be able to delete any such crud I find. Preliminary research indicates this stuff is so far only in the kernel, and not scattered throughout Ubuntu or any other given OS. Not yet sure if IntelTXT is all that is in the kernel.
I will be having a dual-boot PC (XP Pro & Linux). Already did the necessary research to discover how to jettison all DRM, COPP, HDCP, and so on from XP Pro using nLite, XPlite, and other means. Now I need to learn how to erase any such crapola I find in Linux. I expect this to be much more difficult!

I wouldn't say that at all. Probably more manual, but not more difficult.

Considering I have general idea how to get the DRM out of XP Pro, and turning up more info each time I do internet search, I'd classify this as fairly reasonable. On the other hand, considering I've got no idea how to delete/erase crud like CONFIG_INTEL_TXT from the kernel, internet searches are going nowhere so far, and I keep getting conflicting info from forums (one said I have to learn to configure & rebuild kernel..other said I only have to learn how to pare the kernel), I'd call this a lot more difficult! Add to it I keep turning up more crud that may or may not be embedded into the kernel (it could be in the OS, or it could be in a repository) can't even tell for sure which. That don't mean I'm giving up on Linux.

Have you considered using a totally libre (no proprietary stuff whatever) OS (Trisquel, Musix . . .) or a libre kernel?
