Linux TurboTax alternative?
My father got hit pretty bad with a virus and is ready to fully switch to Linux (Suse) but before I make the switch, does anyone know an open source alternative to TurboTax? any reccommendations would appreciated.

What is it? You could try searching at G4L or Freshmeat for a similar one... Luck!

Hi--so far, I haven't found any replacements for Turbotax at all. For that reason, I left my machine dual boot, with just a small area for windows and Turbotax (or something like it, now that they've gone nuts with the protection bit). So windows sits all year till tax time. Gnucash and the others (linux) are great for keeping track of finances, and can generate reports from what I've seen, just not the actual tax forms, which is what I imagine you want. If you ever find one, please do post, as I'd be interested too.
SUSE 8.2 is good, by the way. Fast, clean, and updates are painless.

If you are just looking for something to do your income tax, why not use a web based service like turbotax for the web, or taxact on the web? I have done my taxes two years in a row using taxact (no Windows required). When you are finished it lets you download a PDF file for your records.
I should probably be working right now.
