I just run two instances of the non-SMP version. They're in separate directories so they don't step on each other's files. If the SMP version (which didn't exist when I got my dual core, IIRC) isn't working it's something to try.

Thanks. But then, I think you definately win the "who sees a better sunset everyday" contest. Im stuck here in the foothills of the Ramapo mountains in northern NJ. And dont be fooled by the term mountain. The entire range can be summited in one day by a boy and his dog.
Cheers and HNY

I was running folding on suse 10.1, i have at least 5 partitions for linux and one wxp on this computer (amd 64 3200 1GB ram) i was trying to run the same folding core from all Linux's as i allways boot into a different one, and that did work for a month, i confess i do not know mutch about permissions and i did something bad, blasting permissions on /etc on that partition and after that i coud not su or do anything "root#"
On suse 10.1, (I did fix that not reinstall.:)
I have a partition called /tv just for recording tv stuff so if i move the folding folder there mount it from all linuxes and get help from you, can i run the same core from any, Linux install
Man,I believe I have folded some myself.
My first step, don't be so harsh on me ...
You do know that you don't have any team info set up right? You may want to add the team info so that they get credit.Quote:

:D :D :D :D :D
We all have to start somewhere. Folding helps important medical research. In any case, having folded just a little is better than having folded none.Quote:

Yup!
This is our team...I'm hoping we'll make it to the top 100 teams one day. Then we'll have some serious bragging rights.

Well, changed that, restarted (don't know if it was needed tough), I don't see any change. But I believe it is more important folding than adding this team number in the config file,am I right?Quote:

One for the team !
Woohoo!:D
I was trying to fold from opensuse 10.1,opensuse 10.2 and kubuntu (on the same multiboot computer) by monting a partition called /tv from all three with FAH504-Linux.exe and its work unit,it did work for a while, i have since then been reading up on permissions and have found out that they vere not to blame, allso fstab settings on the /tv partition vere fine, i tried to softlink the workunit from the /tv partition and keep the exe on eatch linux but that resulted in corrupted work unit and allsorts of errors, i now belive that it has something to do with the client.cfg in eatch folding settings, or some error checking in the folding software.
I have decided to use small work units on eatch install instead of all of this sillyness.
(I corrupted a workunit 4 days work on my athlon 64 3200 1gbram)
Im only trying to setup mythtv and lirc on opensuse 10.2 moving from 10.1 and thats taking time.
At least i did read up on permissions softlinking, fstab obtions and more
I use Suse 10.2 and I also had confiuration troubles at first. I did put in my user name, the number of my team, and then I was careful to answer no to most of the other questions..... now folding like a champ.
what i was doing should not be tryed, it was a stupid time consuming wastefull exersise.:o
2 more cpu's added to the melee :D
LOOK OUT PEEPS!!

I've breeched the top 10.
Come get me if you can!!
:D
Hey, I've been doing some IT work on Roi-Namur, Marshall Islands. I like it.
.
damn. i got bs on by butt and je_fro added more procs... i think im gonna get me one of these 648 proc monsters
Dang, I'm sinking like a stone. I need to get my old (yeah, it's just ancient:rolleyes:) Athlon 64 3000 back up and folding again. Of course that would require a motherboard and memory which I don't have atm. I guess four CPU's worth isn't enough to stay in the top 10 here anymore.
.
Just passed 200K. Closing in on 1000 WU.
.
Still hoping they come up with some practical stuff that will make a difference. You know, where it becomes public knowledge that Folding@Home was responsible for some cure or technique or innovation.
Of course, I'm also assuming that some of the research has already been put to practical use in some areas.
Me too, it's why I gave up on the SETI project. This sure seems more worth our while.Quote:

I don't see much that's related to any specific disease, but his publications are fleshing out a LOT of basic science that can be applied across the board.
(the ones with green/orange icons are free if you want to check it out...)
Sweeeet. I have one of those.
Lookout!

Ok, The firmware update is done and Folding is installed on the PS3. The display is really cool. The projected completion time for the first workunit is +-10hrs.
An extra 2.3 units a day is really gonna put up the numbers.
M
That almost makes me want to buy a PS3. I could double or triple my output in one shot, at least from what I've been hearing about the PS3's folding capabilities.;)
Hey... My work units aren't uploading.
I see that the Folding home page has moved.
Each time I've been to the Stats page in the last couple of days I get a message to check back in 15 minutes.
I wonder if I need to stop and restart all my clients?
Anybody else having this issue?
Hmm, stats page is working fine here and my PC's seem to have finally started submitting work units again after an odd lull in mid-March.
Everything is working here too. I sent in a unit the other day and it got a new one to work on as well. Home page seems to work for me as well.
I dunno.
:D :D :D :D :D
I confess, it was me. I hacked your ISP and redirected all of your F@H traffic to /dev/null so I could catch you in the rankings. Unfortunately they've changed their password since then so I can't undo it. Terribly sorry.:D
I am coming for you all! :D

Dang it!!
I've been working up on Roi-Namur and just got back to Kwajalein and I see I have work units stacking up in my work folder.
This is just one example:

Are these the IP addresses you guys are going to?
I didn't change anything that I'm aware of. I think I'll shut my whole system down and bring it all back up and see if that fixes it.
Maybe the Proxy Server I have to go through has been tightened down some more. I'll have to check on that.
The Folding stats page says I only have 3 of 9 active computers.
Yessss!!!!!
erm...I mean, I'm getting the same thing...
I know they're doing a lot of dev work over there...I'll check the forums when I get time ;-)Code:[19:14:42] + Attempting to send results

Weird, I have those messages too now. Even weirder, my point production doesn't seem to be suffering so far and it still says I have four processors going.
I am able to access those IP's and the port it's connecting to is open, so I don't know what's going on.
Not too weird, the folding@home news page did mention about the client re-tries problem being related to the trouble they're having with their network.
