BTW: Wouldn't it be better if all the linux users in the world moved to one team? The closest thing I could find is team #163, "Linux" (rank 55), but there are so many other linux teams, such as Gentoo Linux (37th), CentOS (142nd), FedoraFolders (192nd) and of course justlinux_regulars, etc. Image "Linux" being in the top ten.
I'm sticking right here with team 36480...hopefully we'll make the top 100 someday. That would be a serious achievement!
yeah, and gentoo is ranked so highly because they set the default team # when the program is emerged....
hmm...perhaps there's something I can do about that...

When I used emerge to install folding a long time ago, it didn't have a team number in it. I had to run the setup to give a team number. That was a while back so maybe it is now. I use finstall to do mine though.
Also, I'm sure if a person wanted to change team numbers they could. I bet Mandriva and other distros do the same thing.

My stats are starting to look bad. I hope things get back to normal soon.
And I still have to go through a dang proxy on a 56K dial-up connection.
I got a couple I can't send too. I also had one to fail but I can't find the error message. It got like 40% through then died on me. It never did that before.
I hope they get this sorted soon. Oh, I'm on dial-up too, 26K. Yeeee haaaaa.

Well, if it makes you feel any better I have one core that shut down completely. It's still running, but only half of my CPU is being used.:(

That's what I was pointing out.
Near as I can tell their servers are going up and down...I'm still getting work units done and about half the time they get submitted. I'm sure they're aware of the problem...the people on their forums are even worse^H^H^H^H^H more meticulous than the people here :D

Hmm, sounds like Folding may have been growing a little too fast for the Stanford guys. In the end I imagine that will be a good thing once they get caught up and can handle the load.

5/6/2007 Update on server and server room upgrades
Looks like we're on schedule to get the new servers on line by the end of the week, which means the new WU's can go out on Monday or Tuesday the week after that, if all goes well. These new machines will basically double the usable storage of FAH, adding almost an extra 150TB and adding 56 cores to the mix.

We've got a series of new servers that will double the server capability of FAH. We've had the hardware for almost two weeks, but we're still waiting on the University to get the networking completed to our new server room. We've been told that this will be completed by the end of next week, so we're likely still 2 weeks out from getting these new servers up and going. We'll give an update as we get more info.
5/2/2007 Network upgrades at Stanford
Stanford is upgrading the network to one of Folding@home's data centers to try to help make the system more redundant and to get us on Stanford's new 10Gig backbone. However, this will lead to a network outtage on some of our machines (those in the 171.64.65.xx subnet) on two occaisons. Tomorrow (Tues) at 5am pacific time there will be some work, but likely not an outtage. On Thursday at 5am pacific time, there will be an outtage for about 1 hour.
4/13/2007 Network problems at Stanford
We are experiencing problems with the Stanford network. Everything is working, just very slowly, causing retries in the client. Stanford IT is looking into this.

I see that the justlinux_regulars team is slipping the wrong way. I've watched us move from 139th to 147th place in the last few months.
Is it just me, or has the traffic here a JL really slowed down lately?
I know I haven't been much help since I live off in a big Windows world these days and don't get over here very often.
We've had our ups and down's.
It's pretty seasonal... in a couple of months college students will be bored and installing linux. It picks up in the fall, imo.
After a hiatus of about a year, I am back folding for the team again.

Are you sure that isn't cached old stuff. I can't hit their folding pages at all. Either from slackware with firefox or windows xp with firefox or IE.

it's working and current because my latest dip to 0 WU is because I've been doing some modeling of my own...
it might lag a couple of days sometimes, but overall I use it as a crude measure of WU productivity...

I can't do it at home or at work on the public network and I can't hit it from the .mil network.
Looks like the proxy police are at it again! Blocking stuff they don't understand.
Ah, a good reminder to get all of my systems back up and folding. I recently had to reinstall both my Myth box and my webserver (damn script kiddies and two year old unpatched PHP Nuke sites that you forgot about :mad: ) and hadn't gotten folding back running on both of them yet.
I've also lost a couple of days worth on my main box because I forget to turn it back on after gaming (for some reason folding has been stealing CPU time from my games even though it's niced to 19 so I have to shut it off :confused: ).

This underlines the importance of folding... this guy isn't using Stanford FAH, but when BOINC gets their act together we'll be working on his stuff too..
So, is everybody sharing info/results or is it a competition?
Edit: Oops, I see you say he isn't using the Stanford folding stuff. Seems like in this field... the more info the better. Hopefully, there is some extent of sharing info that goes on.

Well, since I've changed jobs, I've had to give up 7 of the computers I was folding with. I'm down to 5 'folders' now.
This computer is one I recently built from spare parts. I just started folding with it. It has a P4 2.26 GHz processor that I've overclocked up to 2.7 GHz. Apprently it'll go higher, but my 2 120mm fans are already working full time.
Asus Probe (yeah, this one is a Windows XP machine :p) tells me that the CPU temperature, running at 100%, is staying at about a steady 105 degrees F (41 degrees C). I don't think that temp for prolonged periods is that bad, but I could be wrong.
Any thoughts?
(I've tried using the attachments option here for a couple of images. We'll see if that works.)
