Glad to hear it! :)

Is it just me... or is everyone having trouble uploading and downloading to/from the F@H servers today?
My internet connection seems to be fine otherwise.
I think my stuff has been going in just fine.
Ah... I checked at the Folding forum and found this:
http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19532
I also see I just got 7,229 points and 5 Work Units, so it looks like it's back up.
With my crappy 56K connection I never know....
mhanson- Must be getting pretty HOT in you room!!!
:D
Its gettin cool here. Im supplementing my heat now ;)
Dang it... All of a sudden... my work units are not uploading. I don't know if it's the upload servers I'm hitting or my local dial-up system. Although I seem to be having no problem browsing the internet.
This is very perplexing. The results from my PS3 folding are uploading back to FAH with no problem. But, none of my computers have uploaded anything for going on 2 days!
I even turned off all the machines and the network and everything and started it all back up from scratch. Still nothing.
:(
Okay, my last utility bill was back under $100 and it's winter so the heat generated by folding will help keep my gas bill down. :) As such, I just restarted it on my main box so I should start showing up in the stats again soon.
cybertron - welcome back.
I'm still having all sorts of trouble uploading results. This stupid dial-up system is geting less and less reliable. I am able to upload some of the GPU results from my windows machines, but the CPU results simply will not go.
I can go over to a local wireless hot spot and upload, but I can't really carry my regular size computers over there. And, even that connection is very unreliable. But, when it works I can upload at about 50K instead of this 3.2 to 4K I get when the dial-up system is working at its peak performance.
They keep talking about getting us a DSL system, but it seems they are going to wait until it is utterly obsolete before they implement it. And then they are talking about charging us $140/mo. for a 1 Meg connection that they will try to keep working 80% of the time.
I know!! this sucks!
Could the trouble be related to getting hit by a hyper-sonic flying bomb?
Good thing it wasn't one of these multiple payload jobs!

But, I think we have invisible alien spacecraft that hover over the atoll that cause a disturbance in the force, which also causes data flow fluctuations which overwhelm the old timey 56k dial-up modems.
:p
*Fires up the BOFH excuse generator*
Yep, it's definitely electromagnetic energy loss. Tricky thing to fix, that. ;)

Network issue at Stanford
The whole Stanford campus is having a major issue due to the lack of chilled water on campus. This is causing issues for many of our servers in different server rooms. As of this moment, this is still not resolved. We cannot bring servers back on line until this is resolved. It's getting late (~10:30pm PST), so we'll check back tomorrow morning to see hopefully that this is resolved. Until then, several of FAH's servers are down unfortunately.
UPDATE 4:30am Pacific Time: Chilled water came back on line at 11pm, but several of our servers are still down. Our sysadmins will work to get them back up, but it may not be until Monday, depending on their availability on Sunday.
UPDATE 11:30am Pacific time: Our sysadmins have been in the office getting machines back on line. We're almost there, although it looks like there are a few machines which have issues resulting from the outage.

Lots of zeros!
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...php?s=&t=36480
But, once they catch up, all the points should still be there.... hopefully.
Points have been coming back for a few hours, but there was a big spike in the Hourly Production Table for 2.14, 6pm.

Sweet
We're back in the hunt!
Must....stop....trilarian!!!
Go back up here and read the recent posts. There was a network outage at Stanford. It took them a while to get the points back up to the stats servers. So we all had a few point spikes.
There were no stats/points for over 2 days. And, fortunately they weren't lost.... just delayed.
Ah! That makes sense... I thought my ISP had issues as I was out of town that weekend, but noticed the 0 days.
dkeav... you going down buddy!!! haha FOR SCIENCE! :D
I probably had a bunch of zeros last week anyway because my UPS flaked out while I was on vacation and shut down a bunch of my PC's with extreme prejudice. :(
Back up and running though. Now I need to decide whether I'm going to replace the UPS because it seems to be working fine again...
You get your wish for a short bit... :p
Shutting down the boxes at work since today is my last day. Then in a week or so I'll shut down my house ones while I make the move and wait for ISP to hook up the new place. Come January I'll be back full force though!
That sucks, but i'll patiently be awaiting your triumphant return. Good luck with the move.
Dang it mhanson (techwise), you're staying one step ahead of me!
These days, I'm only doing GPU folding on Windows machines. My CPU results from any computer ---will not upload--- !!
I think 'they' have implemented an upload cap on this old, stupid, 30 year old, crappy, unreliable, stupid, old, crappy 56K dial-up system.
If I could upload CPU results.. who knows how far I could be!! :D
that sounds like excuses to me old buddy
hit the beach with the smoke signals already, i know the throughput isn't great but gets the job done.
Well, I upgraded my desktop at home and I try to keep my PS3 running now that the cold weather is in. I now have pretty much every machine I have control over running. Not to mention I have a bit of a competitive spirit. Hopefully soon, I will be able to upgrade my workstation at the office. That should really kick it up a notch.
I have to be careful here. Every time I think things are going ok... something stops working. But, I'm testing out FAHClient 7.1.43. So far, it has been running -smp for a couple of days on my Dell XPS M1730 laptop CPU and it's actually uploading the results. I also have it doing GPU folding and that's going ok also. I'm seeing over 50,000 points in the last 24 hours.
Tomorrow is my day off, so I may convert everything to 7.1.43 and try some more CPU folding.
It's an interesting observation that GPU folding gets less points, but more Work Units. I'm getting 50 to 60 work units per day. Where you are getting around 20.
Oh, and I hafta fold nekkid 'cause it's kinda hot in here!! ;) j/k.. sorta..
:D
Gonna need pics to prove it either way.Quote:

I just ordered 2 nVidia cards so I can do some GPU folding and I overclocked my i5 to 4.3Ghz. I may need another fan in my case and a bigger power supply too. Gotta keep up with the Jones'.
I heard a motivational speaker named Zig Ziglar once say, "Now take money... I've had it. And I've hadn't had it. ... It's better to have it."
:D
I also have another EVGA GTX 560 Ti coming. That'll be 3 of those, a GTX 260, and an 8800 Ultra. My XPS M1730 has dual 8700M GT's. I don't live close enough to the fire department to max out the XPS at the moment!!
And here's a photo for techwise (heheh... be careful what you ask for!) Not too bad, I reckon, for turning 58 this year. (I shoulda wore my hat!) ;) And really, I ain't lying, I have an external 120mm USB fan sitting on the desk blowing directly on me while I'm sitting here. I have two cigar humidor hygrometers in the room. One says 82 degrees and the other says 84 degrees.
I came across this source of FAH news. BS it looks like they have their own network issues to contend with as well :)
http://folding.typepad.com/news/
je_fro... Yeah, that's kinda old news now. That was sorted out, but I still have upload issues... however, even so, I'm recently averaging about 50,000 points per day from mostly the GPU folding!
So . . . . I will be shutting down my systems over the next few days in anticipation of a move back to Texas north of Dallas. It will probably be May before I come back up to full speed. And, look out, because I will have broadband internet access there! I hope to get a house in an area that has Verizon FIOS at 35/35 Mbps! My uploads will be finished before the Uploading message finishes writing to the screen! Heheh...
(oh, well, we'll see how it goes. I'll have to pay for my own electricity then!)
It's currently like this:
Uploading: 0.16% (that's not 16%, that 16 one hundreths of 1 percent!)
Uploading: 0.27%
Uploading: 0.46%
Uploading: 0.68%
Uploading: 0.85%
Uploading: 1.20%
etc....
After the move I hope for this:
Uploa.....: 100%
;)
Be safe in the move. I've got a 6-pack of Shiner waitin' on ya.
Welcome back to the main land. I just moved to the DFW area myself, though I'm out of the FiOS range (SW Arlington). AT&T U-Verse isn't the 50Mbps cap of FiOS, but 24Mbps works fine. I'm still waiting for my first electric bill before I cut the farm on so I can get an idea of my monthly cost.
Hit me up when you are settled, don't know too many people here yet.
have a safe trip, and welcome back
Here's what I'm getting from my FIOS here in NJ.Quote:
