Hmm, XbaxeSysAdmin and I started folding about at the same time and he had more than the double of my score, but now I just passed him as he hasn't been folding for the last seven days.

Two of my boxes are now saying "Finished a frame (31)" instead of a percentage is this normal? If so what would this number normally count up to?

This is normal, it probably means your computer is folding a very large work unit - 400 frames if I'm not mistakenQuote:

Most of the ones I get on the Linux box are that way..xxx/400 frames. I have beed getting some doozies lately on the AMD 64 rig, 1000 frames etc.

If, in the initial configuration, you said 'yes' to the 'accept large work units' you are prone to getting work units of 1000-2500 frames.
good for servers.
if you didnt, then you'll get the % complete ones, and then you'll get 400-frame ones.

Well, I was down to 2 PC's folding after my win98 machine crapped out. Got slackware on it now. Weird, it won't boot without a diskette, but it is running now. Dang scsi stuff.
I decided to go ahead and fold with my main slackware machine and also with my W2K personal/work laptop, uh, since I've been out of work again since Feb 15th and the thing is just sitting there. So, that's 5 PCs going at it.
The only thing that can stop me now is that next electric bill :eek: , what with no income and all, or the heat build up in this little room... and I'll have to start running the AC sooner here in Texas.

I may have to move my folding 'cluster' into another room. I'm trying to hold off on starting up the AC, but having 6 computers running, 5 at 99% CPU all the time, makes it quite warm in here. I expect spontaneous combustion at any moment.

Oh, and I've morphed from bs_2003 to bs_texas as many of you have no doubt already noticed. bs_2003 has 11 WU and 1740 points, but as bs_texas I'm on the board again and will be moving up.
Edit: Hmmm.. so the actual member count is one less. Not that it really matters, but just in case you're counting.

That begs the question, Should I probably deselect that 'allow >5MB work assignments' on the slower machines? It seems that would be prudent. Leave the bigger WU's for bigger machines and crank out the smaller WU's on these smaller machines.

Yes, you should deselect the 5MB barrier. The two machines I'm folding with are P3/500MHz and for "large" WU (i.e. those close to 5MB) they take two weeks.

Hey i got bored just sitting at home and not working on my website so i decided to copy one of my test sites over and use it for folding. If anyones intrested the link is here. I will be doing some work to include team stats and so forth. For those that use firefox (or other borwsers that support it) their is a live bookmark link to the site news. If comes as an xml file, for all the others syndication just load this file into thunderbird (or other rss/xml feed reader) or just visit the site.
Right now it is 5:28 Eastern Standard Time (I think), and the Just Linux Folding team is in position 211. In position 210 is Microsoft. Needless to say, we are just about to overtake these guys, I have been waiting for this day for far too long. Finally we will put them in their place-falling behind linux.
(Oh and yes, I am aware of the irony that I took the screenshot with Windows XP - Its friday and I'm gaiming; I'm just too lazy to boot into slack to make this post)

Unfortunately she did pass away at about 2am est.
Even if the chances are 1:1000000 that this research in the long run does contribute to helping cancer victims or helping people avoid cancer it is immeasurably worthwhile to me. Plus cancer isn't the only thing this research can help and I think the odds are much better than one in a million that this stuff will help us understand what's going on.
My aunt was diagnosed less than 2 months ago after having trouble breathing. It's deadly stuff. While it's nice to pass MS and stuff like that there 's a big picture that's more worthwhile.
We're doing an awesome job! But lets throw all our procs at it!
I was watching the twilight zone or one of those crazy sci fi sort of weekly stories on non other than the sci fi channel. The two episodes were based on genetic engineering and trying to cure deseases. Basically this scientist tested a DNA sequence (or somthing of the sort) on himself causing him to hear voices and such. He ende up finding 4 students which were free from blemishes and ilness for an unknown reason....they fly through space on a ship which ends up killing the scientis and his son and putting the other 5 left over (don't try to think about the numbers) in a deep sleep...Thy landed thinking they were on some other planet finding it was earth...walked into a massive grave site finding human skellitons with wings attached...readan enscryption reavealing that due to trying to perfect the human DNA from cancer and disease, it left an entire generation sterile killing off humanity.
Now i doubt this would happend in the future, but hey ya never know..just thought it was instresing...
