Good day. Can I just state to anyone who cares that the so called "helpful linux community are the least helpful group of people I have ever come across. I have considered linux for years, and everytime I try it I run into a some small problem that could be solved by some advise, documentation or just a nudge in the right direction, everytime asking on every available forum, hours of searching the web for answers, getting vaguely explained pieces of code thats supposed to solve all problems, ending up formatting the computer and resorting to Microthiefs, the amount of times this comunity has let me down makes me realize why its nearly impossible for someone like my, who used dos, migrated to windows, and have been using it since day one, to migrate to linux. There simply is no help for absolute beginners, the closest I have gotten to getting advice was 2 people hijacking a thread on another forum and fighting over my problem, none of which has come up with a solution yet.

If there is someone out there who are really willing to help pls message me, I have a few silly problems but with my low knowledge about linux and zero help from forums and online, I will never be able to completely make the switch even though it would be so rewarding to make the shift from Microthiefs

I just downloaded, and tested 10 of the new Linux OS's offered.. They are Not user friendly like they claim.. They're scary and 'piece meal'!.. They are like 'tossed salad with all the old kitchen scraps added'.. Into the trash-pail went the CD's, and I deleted the ISO's from my archives, and formatted the 10 hard drives.. T'was a massive nightmare, a waste of time, a wasted four days, a waste of 10-CD's...

If you make the DVD with Widows, re-download it later with Linux, make the CD with Linux, toss out the first CD, delete the first download, and reinstall the OS with the second CD to be sure there aren't any microstuf malwares in your new Linux OS, and boycott widows like the plague, and never ever click on any microstuf websites in search engine searches.. Never click in Linux mint forums.. Boycott them.. Don't touch them.. Never ever open an email from a Linux Mint Forum, or you Will So be sorry... It seems they hate people.. Someone bad took over the mint forums.. You'll get beat-up in mint forums.. You'll wish you hadn't visited it.. Their forums make you fear and hate Linux.. If you are switching from widows there's a chance that there's bad stuff hidden on the hard drive, and the widows OS might not allow a Linux install.. That's easy to bypass...
To clean the widows hard drive of all its evils there are ways to format it clean.. One way is to connect the hard drive to a Ubuntu Linux computer's USB via an SSD to USB connector.. They are cheap ($4 to $20).. google.com/search?udm=2&q=usb+to+ssd+adapter ..You can make your own external backup hard drives with it.. Format the hard drive with Ubuntu's 'USB Stick Formatter', then install that formatted hard drive into the computer, and install Linux Mint Mate 22.3 with the DVD in the slot.. Generally tapping f12 highlights 'start options', and gets you to the CD option, Enter, and install Linux.. It's absolutely crucial that you install it WITHOUT a net-connection for security reasons..

Another way to format a hard drive is to acquire an ISO of DBAN, make the CD, Install the troubled hard drive into the computer, and reboot the computer with DBAN in the CD slot.. At prompt, key-in 'autonuke', and press enter, let it erase your hard drive... Might take a couple hours for its full course, but all you need is for it to work for about 5-minutes, then eject the CD, and hard shut down the computer.. Insert the install disk, reboot, answer the questions.. Do so double encrypt the install.. Do not net-connect yet..
CAUTION! It is absolutely crucial that you do not have any external media attached to the computer while DBAN is formatting the hard drive, or it will erase your media back-up fast...

Reboot with the Linux Mint DVD in the slot, WITHOUT a net-connection.. You must double encrypt the install so hackers can't modify the OS, nor read and steal your files... You'll find first encrypt option in the little box on the forth question.. Check the two boxes... No net connection yet.. Install then Reboot.. After the CD has been ejected hold down the power button to hard shut down the computer, then restart it... Boycott and Ignore 'welcome screen'.. Click it off.. Exit update manager from the toolbar, bluetooth, and concerns.. Never open them...

If you choose another Linux, be sure it has the options to encrypt the install and the home file.. If it doesn't give you those two options your files and OS can't be safe on the internet.. If an OS doesn't offer those two installation encryption options it ain't worth a dog turd...

Got to menu>control-panel>start up apps (at bottom).. Uncheck everything visible in start-up apps..
Change Sources to a trusted university.. If you are using Linux Mint Mate 20.3 it's OK to uninstall all the apps that hackers use exploit to invade your computer: Firefox, Transmission, Hexchat, Hypnotix, Bluetooth, Thunderbird,, Warpinator, Hypnotix, Web Apps, especially Libreoffice, Xreader,, which foolishly lets the hackers in.. Do So Get Rid of that horrid libreoffice pest... Be careful to not uninstall Tools nor Network Tools while you're uninstalling Bluetooth.. Careful to not uninstall Bleachbit while you're uninstalling cups.. Immediately Reboot and run only the first Bleachbit.. If you are using Linux Mint Mate 22.3 you shouldn't go uninstalling too much as it will purge dependencies, and wreck the OS...

To get the tabs to show in the bottom toolbar, open home file, then right click the spaces between the left side icons to unlock them, then click 'move', and slide the blanks to the right, while a file is open on the desktop, till the tabs show across the bottom toolbar..

*If you aren't familiar with Linux, nor good at working computers, this is probably the time to have fun destroying the OS by clicking on and trying everything to get a feel for it.. Make all the mistakes.. Have a party trying everything out, then reinstall the OS clean, and continue.. So what if it takes half an hour to reinstall, you've learned what it does by playing in it like 'a kid cut loose in a candy factory'...

Be sure you wire-connect the computer, not WIFI connect.. Wire connection is much safer, faster, and more secure... Change Sources to a trusted university and/or Wiki.. If you don't change Sources, Librewolf, and OcenAudio won't install... Reboot after each major installation process..

Add Librewolf to replace the poisonous Firefox.. Librewolf is Firefox without the poison...
In Terminal add these three lines, one line at a time..

sudo apt update && sudo apt install extrepo -y

sudo extrepo enable librewolf

sudo apt update && sudo apt install librewolf -y

Reboot..

It installs the latest version, if the dependencies are met if you've changed Sources to a trusted university... If it doesn't install, there are other methods.. If it doesn't install change sources to a Canada university...

Now customize the OS.. Right click on everything to find what's available to change to your liking..
Go to menu, color selection dialogue, drag a color to the home file window..

Right click the icons in home file to change their colors..

Go to appearance, change it to two vertical colors..

Right click the toolbar, click add custom, and change the size and color..

Go to Synaptic, add: Cheese, Brasero, FocusWriter.. Reboot.. Add Gimp by a saved download.. The new Gimp is a pain... To add Gimp choose: gimp_2.10.18-1_amd64.deb
DO NOT EVER ADD: Audacity, nor VLC from sites other than the originals if you must add them.. I boycott them.. They are extremely serious toxic malware.. I read they steal your data, and send it to russia's kgb.. Those monsters can destroy your computer's OS by the click of a mouse.. Their stolen corrupted apps can sometimes block new OS installs to prevent you from cleaning out their malware/spyware..

Configure Librewolf without a net-connection.. Uncheck Updates... Add: uBlock Origin and Midnight Lizard, nothing else, until you've Google surfed their titles, adding "is malware" to the title's search to be sure an addon is free of malware...

Left click the internet icon in the lower tool panel, and the connection, and the little tool-gear.. In 'general' uncheck 'auto-connect'...

It's good practice to disconnect the net when it's not being used during these days of WW3.. There's a kookoo terrorism cyber war going on out there, and it's gonna get much worse in a couple months.. Crazy cocaino-damaged hacker narcissist bully monsters are having their delusional 'pretend-god sanctioned' twisted-libido fun damaging innocent defenseless peoples property and lives.. I makes them feel like heroes.. The bullies only pick the defenseless Innocent as their victims, those who can't fight back, is what bullies do.. Doing evil is the bullies pathway to hell.. The bullies are already in hell sharing hell for fun and sport, they just don't know it yet.. They believe doing evil is fun and good.. Left click the toolbar, 'add to the panel': 'force quit' and 'shut down (x2)'...

Put all your desktop stuff in the bottom toolbar.. see attached pix.. Leave the desktop clean for your favorite background picture only.. An uncluttered desktop feels a lot better, happier, nicer than a messy cluttered one that looks like 'a fall lawn covered with dead leaves'..

In home file uncheck side pane in view.. Go to edit preferences..
In home file click Edit Preferences.. Change the icon size.. Change 'double click' to 'single click'..

Right click the desktop, uncheck 'keep aligned'..

In 'Text' in Menu, in Preferences, click Monospace, and again, and at the bottom change the font size to 18 so it's easy to read..

Do not change anything in 'Compiz'.. That would be like 'lighting your panties on fire'...

Make some ISO CD's of Mint for your friends who want to dump windows too.. DVD's are cheap these days if you shop around.. I acquired 300 blank DVD's from a couple garage sales for $5 total, and another 300 from the used stuff store for $4 total.. $9 for 600 good blank DVD's.. (shop at garage sales starting at 8:AM when the sellers are setting up, to get the real deals before the sharpie-do's get it all)...

It's important you acquire notebook hard drives.. Soon the only source for hard drives will be garage sales and the recyclers garbage.. You can make your own external hard drives from them...

I watched a 10-yearold install this Linux OS start to finish as I've detailed it.. It's oh so easy... You can do it... Escape from the mean'n nasty widows.. Free yourself from the bullies playground, high-chair, dinner plate, pig trough, and doggie dish...
A lot of good folks told me they totally dumped their computers right into the garbage to escape microstuft's incessant bullying...


Tip: Don't sit on a cushion on your chair.. That's what gives you the infamous sore bum 'computer butt'.. Use a folded soft small polar-fleece blanket as the cushion instead, or best would be a small sheepskin...

Tip: Don't leave the notebook running for hours while you're away from it.. That's what kills notebooks from heat buildup, especially the full featured ones.. Turn it off when you aren't using it..

Tip: Never ever place a drink on the desk or table between you and the computer.. Always have the drink far off to the side so you don't accidentally spill a drink on the keyboard.. If you're a bit clumsy or high it's good practice to store a drink set in a bowl, or set on a plate, at least a foot away from the keyboard...

Tip: Don't ever open suspicious emails from anyone you don't know, nor marketing, nor free offers, nor from firefox, nor from mozilla, nor from any corporations, nor spams, nor from someone you don't have solid reason to trust.. Never ever open spam emails, especially not those from microstuft.. If you think an email might be a scam or an attack, and want to open it, before opening it surf it's header on google and startpage, adding 'is a scam', 'is malware', 'is a virus'.. If it's evil, good people will be warning us about it...

It's best to dump all your email accounts in favor of just a ProtonMail account.. They don't read nor control your emails or work, nor add malware to your computer.. It doesn't get more honest and better than Protonmail...

CAUTION! Don't add Portmaster.. It's hackers...

Tip: In saving pix, if it's a 'webp', click cancel, and save it as a screenshot, then edit it clean in Gimp..

Tip: Never ever snoop in a stranger's retired scrapped old hard drive at someone else's private stuff ('crap').. You'll wish you hadn't.. Your head becomes like it's their toilet.. You will never get rid of those thht memories.. Format the device immediately without opening it, same with retired old phones you've acquired to reuse, reset them immediately.. Their stuff is absolutely none of your business, and can carry a memory curse, like 'carrying someone's doodoo in your head'...

Tip: Before you major house clean, turn off all the electronics, and cover keyboards and such with a cloth.. And cover the heat vents, or switch the furnace off.. If you don't, the cooling fans will suck in the airborne dust... Before I patch and repaint in a house I always cover all the electronics in plastic bags to keep the dust off and out.. Dust kills electronics by plugging-up and degrading cooling...
Never ever vacuum gyproc sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner.. The extremely abrasive dust will totally destroy the vacuum cleaner's motor bearings... To clean a vac take the vacuum cleaner to the coin car wash, dismantle it, and give it a good spray wash cleaning.. Switch it on, then plug it in without touching it when it's wet.. Let it run 15-minute in the sun to dry the motor.. Dry the filters in the sun after spinning the water out of them in the laundry machine...

Tip: If you are unsure about a download, google surf it first, by adding 'is malware' to the search.. Insane moralless unscrupulous demonic devolved criminal people ('demon-apes') are incorporating spyware in downloads.. Hell believes it owns the internet, heaven, us, this universe.. They are desperate to steal our data and money to break their boredom of living in their hell-latrine...

Tip: Never leave anything you want to keep in the netbook that you don't have a few back-up copies of.. Maintain at least two running up-to-date back-ups.. Best is to have two notebooks, one for the Net, one for private... CD's and Flash Drives are not reliable back-ups, they can break (quit) too easily, then you've lost everything, unless you maintain at least ten CD or DVD back-ups...

If I want to open insane emails, or surf in unscrupulous websites like business and government websites, I have a secondary notebook for that, the 'crapper netbook'.. I don't care if the kookoo's crap infects it.. There's nothing in it but one background pix, and a good tune... It's an 87-cent notebook I pulled of the scrap electronics shelf, and added a troubled bad-sectors hard drive.. It's absolute junk.. It's my latrino netbook for opening junk stuff, surfing crap places, and letting the turds in do their infantile gagagoogoo messies in...

Tip: When a lightning storm is happening, and a lightning strike is very close and loud, immediately unplug All your electronics from the wall, including the laundry machines and TV, and do so unplug the router for-sure. or just switch off the outdoor power meter.. If a lightning bolt hits the building it could instantly destroy all your plugged-in electronics.. I used to work at an electronics repair warehouse fresh out of collage.. There were times we would have a client bring in all their electronics in boxes, which a lightning strike had destroyed.. None of it was ever salvageable, all of it totally fried...

Tip: I never ever click on those 'we use cookies' pop-ups in webpages.. They can add malware to the OS.. I see those pop-ups, and I go elsewhere in search of honest clean honorable respectable websites.. Now days during WW3 and organized crime it's the websites that are the malware.. This poor ole internet is saturated with: organized crime, thieves, terrorists, bullies, war, devils, entitled karen elitists, and insane religion, all having their fun destroying peoples private property...

Tip: If you are experiencing grief by forever accidentally clicking the Caps-Lock key or Print key, glue one of its sides with a bit of super-glue.. It'll never happen again...

*Now I copy this huge note, and paste and save it in a word file on the desktop before clicking on anything else to ensure I don't lose it if something goes wrong...
Something did go wrong, something or someone locked-up the browser and screen, a gagagoogoo bully hacker I presume.. Good thing I saved it on the desktop.. That was a Huge note.. Good thing I never make large notes...

Tip: Never rest a running notebook on fabric (lap, bedding, fabric, car seat, cushion, towel).. That'll block the ventilation holes, and could kill the notebook from heat build-up in the very sensitive fragile mosfet transistors...

Tip: Attach a 'Logitech Marble Mouse' to the notebook.. Place the marble mouse on a strip of folded three or four layers of soft polar-fleece the length of your forearm.. Makes for a super comfortable armrest.. You don't move the mouse.. You move only the big red marble with two fingertips.. No more sore wrist...Tip: If you are settled on Linux, toss the widows junk into the incinerator, or erase all your private data, and donate it to someone who is still into widows, maybe a neighbor kid, or poor people who don't have a computer, giving them all the disks, codes, passwords, and widows junk, or if you are still into video-games, keep the widows hard drive and widows stuff in a safe place in case you ever need it..

Tip: Do so get yourself a freebie ProtonMail email account.. They are the best of the best, and honest as it gets...

Tip: Make and maintain at least two up-to-date working external hard drive back-ups of all your computer data...

Tip: Wear shoes or beach slippers while walking on the beaches this summer.. The filthy mannerless migrants have made our beaches be their latrines.. They are pooping everywhere like distemper wild animals...

Tip: If you visit west coast beaches, do so bring a pocket geiger-counter with you to determine how radioactive the beach is, to determine if it's even safe to be near or on that beach.. The El Nina sea currents which bath the western shores of the Americas is the East's nuclear and toxic-waste dump, full of seven huge strips of nuclear waste and chemicals rusting out of the barrels, is what killed the Pacific Ocean.. Rodents: If you've left car doors open in the winter while unloading things, there is a chance that a rat or mouse jumped-in to escape the cold.. They'll chew wires, and destroy a vehicle.. To determine if rodents got into the vehicle, set a cookie on the vehicle floor in a dish.. If the cookie gets eaten you set mouse traps by baiting them with a quarter inch slice of tootsie roll candy, wrapped in about ten turns of sewing thread.. The thread catches on the rodent's fangs, the rodent tugs on the trap's trigger, one dead rat...

Something else: I suspected lizard hackers were getting into this OS via Thunderbird, so I uninstalled Thunderbird, and things are running a bit cleaner and smoother, and the invasions have ceased...
Plus: There's an alternative to Thunderbird: 'Betterbird'.. Maybe it doesn't have secret exploit-holes and malware in it like Thunderbird does..? Try it if you need it, but the only thing I ever used Thunderbird for was to catch email addresses from websites.. I don't need that anymore, so ByeBye thunderturd...

Always have a couple ISO DVD's of Linux Mint Mate 20.3 on hand ready to give to someone who wants to escape widows.. A Bell repairman was here a month ago upgrading my internet electronics to the latest things.. I saw he had an interest in my Linux desktop, so I gave him my ISO DVD of Linux Mint, then rushed through the OS showing him all the critical items: control panel, terminal, synaptic, various customization's, ProtonMail.. He tested the Logitech marble mouse.. I wager he has one by now...

When you first bring up Gimp, go to 'Windows', check 'single-window mode'..
In 'edit>preferences>Icons' change icons to 'legacy'..
In 'appearance' uncheck everything but: 'show menubar' and 'show scrollbars'..
In toolbox uncheck 'use tool groups'..
In 'Icon Theme' check 'Legacy'..
In 'Toolbox' don't uncheck 'Groups'.. Keep only: Rectangle Select, Crop, Bucket Fill, Paintbrush, Clone, Smudge, and Brightness-Contrast.. Uncheck all the others..
In 'Toolbox Appearance', uncheck the four 'Shows'..
In 'Dialog Defaults' change it to 'Convert to built-in.....'.
In 'paint options' uncheck everything but 'brush'..
In 'export file type' change to jpg..
In 'export policies' uncheck all but the top one..
In 'image windows' change mouse pointer to 'tool icon'

Save your pix editing work by clicking 'file' and 'overwrite', then X and discard..
If you aren't sure that you won't lose something when you edit a pix in Gimp you might want to have a saved a copy/paste of the pix on desktop when you overwrite save it, so drag a copy from pix viewer to the desktop before you overwrite with Gimp so you'll have a backup copy in case you've made silly editing mistakes..
In Brush set it to the large solid sphere.. The smaller fuzzy spheres are for softer smudge and past editing..
The stamp pad icon is Clone click the icon, then pick a spot of color you want to duplicate, and while holding left click mouse button tap Ctrl, then add it to the pix by clicking where the cursor is.. If you don't want the change click Edit and Undo.. Same goes with Brush in changing its color..
Set size to preference..
If you've made a messy editing mistake, go to Edit, and click Undo..

I'm forever accidentally losing the tools bar dock in Gimp by clicking on blank space in tools.. The solution is: simply restart Gimp..

If you have or ever had Audacity and/or VLC in your OS downloaded from a secondary source, it's absolutely necessary you reinstall the OS to clean-out their evil malwares...
Audacity's fakes have so much powerful malware in it that it even blocks some new OS installations, even if you've uninstalled it.. You'll probably need to run DBAN for 5-minutes on the troubled hard drive, or attach the hard drive to a working Ubuntu distro OS USB to run 'USB Stick Formatter'...

Always disconnect the internet when you aren't using it..

Tip: It is Crucial that the hydro ground-wire to your house plumbing is working properly.. Check the water meter to determine that the ground wire connection isn't corroded pale-green.. If it is, gently undo it, and clean it well with a wire brush and vac hose taking the dust, wearing rubber gloves and a dust mask.. Reattach the wire solid and tight being careful to not stress the meter and the water-pipe connections to the meter, then spray the cleaned connection with some varnish, or apply some silicon grease.. I just downloaded Linux Mint 22.3, made the CD, and gave it a good test in three notebooks.. Its developers have repaired most of the irritating glitches 20.3 has... It works same as Linux Mint Mate 20.3 did, but it's been modernized to adapt to newer machines.. Caution with Linux Mint Mate 22.3.. It can't take OS hardening by indiscriminately eliminating apps like: cups, curl, warpinator, firefox, bluetooth.. Uninstalling those apps can wreck the OS fast, and you'll be reinstalling again... 22.3 can't handle Bleachbit, Scaler, anything from microsoft, and pretty much any aftermarket app you get off the Net...

When running 22.3 in Google, YouTube, and Gemini AI, before opening a downloaded file in your notebook do so right click its properties and permissions after you've save a note or AI chat.. Check it to be sure the executable box hasn't been checked.. If it has been checked delete the file before opening it... Try saving it to desktop, then check its permissions..If executable isn't checked it's OK to open and save to backups...

The Linux novice needs to learn that changes and additions to the operating system requires a reboot to take effect.. Make changes, then always immediately reboot... Proof is Gimp: If you don't reboot after the Gimp installation, and try to configure it, it doesn't maintain most of your changes till you've rebooted the computer after the Gimp install...

I brought up Synaptic, and uninstalled everything in 'internet Applications but Librewolf'.. It made the 20.3 OS run smoother and faster, snappier, less vulnerable to snoopy criminal hackers.. I tried SparkyLinux.. I gave both distro's a good honest test.. It or they became meaner and nastier by the hour.. It or their form goons bullied me non-stop.. After experiencing SparkyLinux for a couple days, I'm snapping the install CD in half with a vengeance, am tossing it into the trash-pail, I'm deleting the downloaded ISO's, and am removing it from the all the notebooks I accidentally foolishly installed it in.. That was a hellish nightmare that I wish I had never experienced.. Do not install SparkyLinux..It's full of malware and exploit holes.. Don't waste your time on it.. It isn't Linux, its fake Linux by terrorism bullies... I suspect Sparky is a fake Linux built by skilled hackers as bait to pull-in innocent unwary victims to bully for gagagoogoo terrorist crotch tingling fun bullying good honest innocent folks.. You'll get bullied and beat-up by their sudden feeding-frenzy.. Seems it might even have all the nastiest trojans and such built right in.. Zero security... It's the meanest OS I have ever had the misfortune of testing, next to widwoes-98, widwoes-7, and rotten-apples mak.. Mak being the greatest nightmare in all of computer world, like 'jogging, and accidentally unwittingly stepping upon gooey juicy road-kill in bare feet'...

All the problems suddenly vanished after I reinstalled the OS, and boycotted: SparkyLinux, VLC, Audacity, Malwarebytes, and Rumble, being five of the self-righteous great malware evils.. Strangely just a couple hours after I reinstalled the OS, and had trashed the five evils, I received a very strange email from Rumble based upon the same evils as SparkyLinux is based upon, which I immediately deleted without opening.. I have never ever used nor contacted Rumble.. They do so mess around with the same types of malware infections.. I'm boycotting all the gossip blogs.. No one in them is worth chatting with.. They're all confused, scattered, spinny, deranged, kookootalk: 'The Zoo'...

The reason for my email was only for you people to help you help your clients put an end to all their computer problem complaints, the troubles they are experiencing and complaining about in using Protonmail's compose, by eliminating the terrorists: VLC, Audacity, and Malwarebytes from their phones and computers.. If they do suddenly most of the complaints you are receiving will probably diminish down to a third, or even better... It's VLC, Audacity, and the others in millions of phones and computers attacking the world's computers,..
