Installation source server not working in Yast?
Is anyone having trouble with the installation source server? I'm getting an error that it cannot find cd1. Is the server down or a maybe a bug?
Here is the message:

Having trouble getting things to work on SUSE 10.1
Ok, I've always been a Windows person and just recently decided to install SUSE 10.1.
Needing help with this:
1. My NEC dvd drive is not showing under 'computer' (funny because after a hardware scan it says that its there!)
2. Could someone tell me how to install 'mplayer'? I don't know how to install a .tar file.
Also, I found 'how to hack linux' on the Jem persons website so I can watch an .avi file and maybe update my nvidia drivers. When I change the installation source to the web servers-its missing the cd 1 disk and displays a 404 error. Is the server down? Bug?
Does anyone know if the versions that you can buy (e.g. Redhat etc) or another version that is not under the DCMA reform?
Any help is very much appreciated :)
Huge patches were made for SuSE 10.1
SuSE 10.1 needs to be updated threw yast for it to work correctly. It was released with a buggy package manager, and many other problems.
To update you need to go to Yast2 and run the "Update Configuration", once it's done finding you an update mirror, you go to yast2's "Online Update", and make sure the "libzypp" patch is there. Install it, and your good to go. Install sources will work, zen-update, zen-install, and zen-remove are all working fine now.
Also check out: http://software.opensuse.org/download/
You can add things like the latest version of KDE to your installation source, and zen-update will make sure your KDE is up to date, along with many other things.
To add the latest version of KDE to your installation source just enter the URL of "http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/" into your installation sources in Yast2. Once you do you'll notice the Zen Updater informing you of the latest version of KDE 3.5.3 is ready to download, and install. If your feeling really brave the first alphas of KDE 4 are in threre too.
