Nice milestone! 10,000,000 points and over 12,000 Work Units. I'm not sure which is most important, but both are great numbers.
I'm still closing in on 7,000,000 Points with over 8,000 WU.

Pfft... I just broke 300k with almost 900 WU...
Sad part is I'm 16th with that low rating. Need more folders for the JL team. It used to be much higher on the team pages.
Every little bit helps, I reckon.
I remember when we were on page 2 at 147 over at
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...ist.php?s=&p=3
We're holding at about 251, currently, on page 3.

I finally got around to replacing my CPU fan so I'm back folding again. I used an old one that I had lying around and it reminded me why I replaced them. My PC is noticeably louder than it was, even though I turned down the rest of the case fans that I had turned up to make sure the CPU didn't overheat while it wasn't working. Oh well.
What's that you say? Eh??? Let me turn off my big box fan that I have running to drown out the sound of my 11 running computers! :D
Did I mention that it's 80 degrees in my room? (Yes, my one room BQ room). But it's only 45% humidity!
Man, did I mention my stupid 56K dial-up service? It was going really good there for a while and then there was yet another outage at the provider side, but now that it's back, I'm having a hard time again getting stuff to upload.
Watching my Ubuntu System Monitor, the Sending graphic is fluctuating between 0.0 - 1.5 - 3.0 - 1.5 - 4.5 - 0.0 - 1.5 - 3.0 - 3.0 - 1.5 - 0.0 - 0.0 - 1.5 - 3.4 - 4.5 - 0.0 - etc.... Oh, and yes, that's KB/s. :( On a good day I can maybe upload a work unit in 4 or 5 hours. It's usually 6 to 10 or more. Lately, it's back to more of "Unit 4's deadline has passed." D'OH !!
(Where's that [flogging-a-dead-horse] emoticon?) ;)
I remember those days, being excited when my download speeds hit 1 kbps. Can't say I miss them. :)
Gonna hit 11m today. It looks like we have about 8 consistent folders in the top half of the list. But we're being overtaken faster than than we're conquering. We need more power. I had to back off on a few cores on my big servers so they could do 9-5 work. But even If I put them back on to folding it wont be enough to start the climb up the rankings. We need like 10 more good teammates.
BS, dude you should write a books on how to get the most out of a dial-up connection. You definately deserve an award for that. Imagine if you had to use one of these.
I'll have to check out that youtube when I get to work. Those things take forever on the dial-up system!
If we ever get the DSL we are being promised maybe things will get better. (Last I heard though, our max upload will only be 1 Mbps and it will cost probably over $50/month.)
Until then I still see a lot of this:
Although... I sometimes wonder if the problem is Stanford, or my setup? This particular machine is a Windows Vista machine:Code:[13:09:25] + Attempting to send results [April 5 13:09:25 UTC]

That upload only took about 30 minutes. But it was only about 3MB. In the recent past the work units uploading have all been around 42MB and can take 6 to 10 hours to upload. One of these days I'll take the time to figure out what's going on and see if I can get to a more reliable, steady state.Code:[10:45:22] + Attempting to send results [April 4 10:45:22 UTC]

DANG IT ! ! ! !
Well, I hope I'm back on track. Discovered an issue with the 8 port Netgear gigabit switch I was using. But, not sure if it was the switch itself, or one of the NICs went nuts and was overloading it. I swapped it out anyway and I'll see how it goes.
Just got around to viewing that youtube video today. :o
The first time I used a modem in college, it was one like that, without the fancy box. The very first text I saw that came across the wire... the guy on the other end typed, "Stand back!" :D
It was a technically awe-inspiring miracle of modern times.
(9600 baud modems were about $500 back then, or was it $300. For me in college, it was the same as being a Million dollars! ;) )
DANG IT!! Now what?!?!
(I wonder how many times I've said "DANG IT!" in this thread?)
So, maybe this is the root of my uploading troubles:
