Hmm.. add that command (the chmod one) to an rc.local script or something and forget about it :)

Hmm... it's a cool project though I wouldn't use it either.

It should be easy to accomplish that.. what you need to check is that "if" there's a file.. or a process running, or whatever, run the rest of the commands or not. Check the following links:

root@c0ma:/usr/src# ls -l /etc/shadow
-rw-r----- 1 root shadow 682 2006-07-03 08:05 /etc/shadowchmod 0640...

I think that's the best option so far...

Add the "users" optionafter "defaults", separated by a comma.
Search Google on how to mount or add to fstab NTFS partitions...

It's as simple as you do it in Windows :)

swapon /dev/hda5
If it's not in your /etc/fstab add it yourself.

I believe that you're only creating the function and you're not actually using it, write "scriptname" down there after the "}", I think that that will make it.

Hey there.. long time no see! Welcome back, I guess? :)
Hope to see you around, later.

In theory, yes.. but I as I noted above, I had no success (I did from 3 to 4 though).

What error do you get when you try to connect? Connection refused, timeout?
Have you make sure that sshd is running?

Yes, they're executables and you can run them by doing ./configure
I see that you're about to try to compile something. I would suggest you to take a look at this guide.

If you do have the information, then remove every line in /etc/resolv.conf and add yourself the information..you just need to add "nameserver" followed by the ip your ISP gave you.. je_fro left an...

Ditto.. 1gb swap is way too much, 512ram is more than enough..
-
Ask your ISP for their DNS and add them yourself to /etc/resolv.conf.

Guys, don't play with the root user, use it only for administration tasks

That's a very common error, at least for me.. I've seen it tons of times. I wouldn't care much about it.
Moved to the Software forum, it's more appropriate to be there.

Search Google :)
And use the man pages, for example "man chmod".
-
I'd use a ftp server instead.. makes more sense to me.
