I've been using gentoo and every time I try to play a video with any player either streaming or from the HDD, XGL just happens to crash. I don't know what could be causing this.

lol i fixed it, i removed my second HDD that i just put in and no more problems. Im guessing that the PSU was overloading

i think it's my PSU because my CPU runs at 30 C at full load

but it is 500-watts

well when i run heavy programs, like games, after about 20 min my comp starts using all of it, and i have 768MB. The the screen goes black and my comp reboots.

oh and this is on my windows...

ok since your not a gamer you don't need an awesome video card. For you i would suggest a XFX GeForce FX 5500, which is a very nice card and you could get it for about $60.

Im having a little problem with my res on my monitor. And i don't know the video card I have. the comp is a sony vaio pcv-lx800 and it has a weird monitor not dvi or vga and it can display 1280x960...

Well I used it and it's great. Makes things a whole lot easier. Just throw it in usr/bin and do from anywhere

i have a MDR36 or SGI Open LDI monitor and i need to find a adpater that will make it connect to a VGA port. I've been googling for about 2 days and i can't find any adapters.
