Hmm, that's not a bad idea... sort of a 'Recycle Bin' for your backups. Remove them and they get moved to the recycle bin instead of getting torched. Anyone else have any other ideas for this sort of...

I am in the midst of setting up a file server and a rsync backup server for that file server. (For security's sake). Now, I understand with rsync, if you run it with the --delete flag, it will delete...

I won't keep resurrecting this argument again and again. I promise, I'm not a troll (am more of a very-occasional-lurker here lately), I just wanted to hear some more opinions on this. Just some...

What do you mean by DRMed? If you mean 'copy protected', I am totally OK with that. Except for prohibiting backups, the only thing 'no copy protection' does is take money away from where it's due...
-
By DRMed, you mean that the media files when imported through the media players contain DRM? Or the entire OS is DRMed? Because I dislike DRM as little as the next guy, but I am pretty sure that the...

I think everyone hates me now....
Look, I like Vista, I like Linux. I have had better luck with Linux servers than windows servers. I have had better luck with Windows for desktops and gaming....

I know, but that's like saying 'my Chevy impala goes 0-60 in 9 seconds, but my Ford Focus maxes out at 32 MPH'... something is obviously wrong with the Ford (namely, Vista). I wouldn't go around...

NecroLin: I love your passion for Linux, but honestly, something ISN'T right with the setup you are on right now: Ludootje was right on. But really, on the right computer (read: on the right...

In a nutshell, I am looking for someone(or someones) to create a completely shared tech blog with.
I posed a similar question a number of weeks (months?) ago, but the difference here is I am not...

Oh.... God... BrowseMaster? I would take "FetalPig" over that, methinks...

Dear lord, are you schizophrenic, or did you just answer your own question. But seriously, I am just confused.
Edit: Just saw the "solved" title. Don't know if it was just changed or what, but...

That did'er! Thanks; now my login prompt is no longer stealing seconds from my life!

That is exactly what my problem is; the netstat thing has to be what is causing me problems! How would I go about actually solving this DNS resolution error though? (Sorry for the old thread...

AMD is crushing Intel in all of its benchmarks at the moment... but july (26th or so), Intel is releasing a new chipset, and their processors under the codename "conroe" are expected to blow AMD back...

I dont know, in windows, warcraft III (which was more into the prime time of game protection) works fine with only the ISO image with alcohol...

Yeah, its called coil whine. I was passively reading this comment and I was just thinking to myself "I bet it's the PSU", but I wanted to wait and see what you determined it to be. It's a real *****...

No, I don't think so. I added username to the sudo group, which fixed the problem, but now username can sudo for any command, not just dhclient, but that is fine for right now, I guess.

The same thing happened with the sudoers file below as what my original file did: the password would be saved until I restarted, and then I would have to enter it again for each restart. Any ideas?
...
-
Is there any reason that my /etc/sudoers file wouldn't work though? Because I can get it to work for a while after I enter a password, but not after I reboot, etc.
-
Basically, all I want to do is be able to use the command "sudo dhclient" without having to enter a password at all (basically, my university network is a PITA to connect to, so I have to enter su +...

Ok, I got ldap 100% up and running, but it is not as nice to use as a normal address book, I don't think. If only the address book would show all of the contacts at the same time. If anyone has any...

It is really a pain in the butt to edit ldap address books, as I have found out. Unless there is a better way to use LDAP than the command line?
-
Oooh, shiny....
Now I have to set up a ldap server... Ldap uses its own port though, doesn't it? Because I am at my university right now, I have no access to my home server, so I can't forward the...

But if, say, you update your thunderbird address book, it won't automatically update the ldap server's address book, correct? I am looking for something more along those lines, but I may use ldap as...
