If you want soething really fast try something like DSL, Feather, Vextorlinux or BeatriX.

XandrOS has support for both RPM and DEB(Debian) packages. If you want to go with something other than Mandriva than try that. It's very easy to use and has a great support and community.

I like linux because of it's ease of use and that "you" are in control of what you are doing, unlike Windblows.
No viruses.
No ad/spy-ware.

again, lightweight linux distro on it with wich I can do sum text editing with and some command line stuff. No CD-rom, no Internet.

I have an old Acermate DX4, with Non-upgradable 12Mb memory, slow proc. Btween 50-150 MHz, I don't want to buy any parts for it, as their hard to come by out hear.
