Could your playback program be where the latency is? I seem to remember ways to adjust that in mplayer...or vlc, what are you using?

That's the place...the gestures...you can assign functions to any of 8 mouse buttons there, like a hotkey on the keyboard, or so it seems.

Try going to system settings, then regonal and accessabillity, then, input actions....this is where you can set-up mouse gestures, etc. HTH.
