If you want to install Windows on it, just run the Windows installer as normal....it should overwrite whatever is on the drive. The GRUB error is a leftover from the linux install.....however you...

What did you reformat and how?
It sounds like GRUB (the boot loader) can't find your Linux partition. But if you've 'formatted' that partition it wouldn't be there.
Need more info I'm afraid.

OK, my bad. I didn't check the changelog. There's a problem with the latest udev package in 'slackware-current', so I downgraded and all is toasty :)

Hello
I've had my iPod for nearly two years now and have always used it in Linux :)
After a HDD failure I've had to re-install Slackware from scratch (10.1 updated to 'current'). Now, when I...

Not trying to flame here, but do you have any links regarding that rumour? It would be quite a shock for Apple to suddenly produce a Linux port. :)

One of the other advantages of Slackware is that it's really easy to build a binary package. Gentoo is a fantastic distro but making an ebuild yourself is not as quick as cooking up a home-rolled...

Although not strictly native, ndiswrapper supports quite a few wireless chipsets. I've got both a desktop and laptop running on wireless cards (Both slackware) using ndiswrapper. Give it a look.

I think one the best features of Slack is that it's simple. Not simple in the way that a first time linux user would find it easy, but simple in that everything is as you'd expect......no...

The best advice i can give is check your config at least 3 times. I've compiled kernels in the past and forgotton to include support for all manner of basic things.
Also if your really not sure...

Chill out fella, there's many good reasons why rpms behave the way they do. There's also different solutions and alternatives to the problem you describe. Be patient, Linux will reveal her secrets to...

This result (from google) seems to be similar. Check out the link the author posts at the bottom of the page. That looks promising ;)

Plan A.
See how bleeding edge you can go before your edges can't bleed no more!
:D

Oops. Never mind JohnT. Fixed it ;)
I just edited /etc/fonts/local.conf and referenced each font directory by name (instead of the default catch-all of /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts).
Then i edited...

Not frequenting these forums much anymore, i only just learnt about Mike passing away. I would just like to pay my respects to a great guy. I never knew him very well but we did chat a few times and...
