    boot up problem

    when i try to boot up linux my screen just keeps putting up the number 99 over and over again i thought it had some thing to do with the bootloader but when i skiped its installation it still did the same thing
    i want to learn linux but i need serious help

    Belive it or not i've actually had that exact problem..though i cant
    remember what i did..Can u describe exactly what steps u did
    with regard to partitioning???

    It is the bootloader, that is the lilo error code for an invalid second stage index sector. The reason you still get it after skipping it's installation is that the non-working bootloader from your earlier install is still left in place. You could try fixing it manually, or just try doing the install again, pehaps selecting GRUB as your bootloader will work if reinstalling with lilo doesn't.

    If you can't get it to work after trying the install again you'll need to tell us what distro you are trying to install, and how you have your hard drives setup and partitioned.

    i didnt have any partion on my hard drive except what linux did by itself i managed to get the problem fixed by switching to grub instead of lilo thanks for the help though
    i want to learn linux but i need serious help
