For sale: AMD Athlon XP 2200 with Debian Linux (sid) pre-installed

I built this unit myself and loaded Debian Linux, so everything works and it's brand new.

    Here are the specs:
    • AMD Athlon XP 2200 processor
    • 512 meg DDR Memory
    • Asus A7S333 Motherboard
    • 400 Watt power supply
    • CyberDrive 48x 16x 48x CDRW
    • Maxtor 60-gig 7200 rpm hard drive
    • nVidea GeForce FX 64 meg graphics card
    • ActionTec V.92 PCI Pro 56K Modem
    • 10/100 Ethernet
    • 4 USB ports
    • Extra case fans for keeping things cool
    • Microsoft Optical Mouse
    • Keyboard and Speakers included
    • Monitor NOT included (sorry)

Since this is Debian Sid, everything is up-to-date:

    Kernal 2.4.20
    KDE 3.1.2
    Gnome 2.2
    Mozilla 1.4
    OpenOffice 1.0.3
    etc ... etc ...

Everything will be kept up-to-date until it's sold, so you can be assured you're getting the latest releases.

Im asking $599.00. If interested, you can leave a message on here or email me at ppentz@visi.com

    Thanks!

    Why I can't buy it...

... I'm hanging out in Baghdad right now, so getting a computer is about a year off for me

Now, in about a year after earning my combat/hazard pay, we might be able to talk... but by that point I can prolly build one myself.

Yes, the gForce is a dual head capable card, but I haven't tested that capability.

No, it hasn't sold yet ... this probably isn't a terrific place to post equipment for sale since most people on here are capable of building their own, but I thought someone might know someone that had a friend that had a brother that...

Let me know if you're seriously interested so I can order the memory!

i am interested, but the price is just a bit too high

perhaps is you cut the case, extra fans, p/s, keyboard, speakers, mouse, 56K modem, and NIC out of the equation you would be able to offer your hardware a little bit cheaper --- let me know

here is my aim sn and email address in case you are willing to negotiate a bit

Let's see, that would leave ... the motherboard, right?

A friend is stopping by later this week to look at it, he's a LONGTIME windows user, so it's going to be a tough sell with Linux on it, but I'm going to try!
