    Myhostname, what does this do...

as of now it has the following
    #myhostname = host.domain.tld
    # myhostname = virtual.domain.tld

does myhostname ahve any relation to the domain name

I dont seem to understand what this does....
my local host name is voyager, whihc is not a domain name its a linux host name and how does this fit in to this configuration...
I cann't very well put voyager.com whihc isn't my domain name...
can someoen explain this to me..Documentations keeps saying that i need to put int a fqdn... but how do u do this with hostname....which is voyager in my case .

    FQDN

(FQDN) The full name of a system, consisting of its local hostname and its domain name, including a top-level domain (tld). For example, "venera" is a hostname and "venera.isi.edu" is an FQDN.
    We all work for machines
